"Mom... I don't like it here..."
Little Y/N's voice trembled with fear and discomfort as she clutched her mother's dress, tears streaming down her face.
Her tiny fists balled up the fabric as she desperately wiped away the tears, seeking comfort from her mother's presence.
Y/N's mother placed her wine glass on the table and knelt down to meet Y/N's eye level. Her touch was gentle as she reached out to wipe away the tears streaming down Y/N's cheeks.
In a soothing tone, she asked, "Why don't you like being here?"
Y/N's little body shook with sobs, her words punctuated by gasps and hiccups. She looked around with fearful eyes, hesitant to speak.
As she tried to speak, she found it difficult through her tears, her sobs preventing her from articulating her words clearly.
"D-dad keeps saying I have t-to stop crying 'cause he said it's embarrassing for him..." She managed to say, struggling to speak through her tears.
Then, with a small voice, she added, "But i-it's not my fault... T-there's s-so much people... I don't like it..."
Y/N's mother gave a small smile, gently tucking a strand of hair behind Y/N's ear before gently posing the question.
"Do you know why your dad doesn't want you to cry?"
Y/N replied with a slow shake of her head. "Be-because it's embarrassing...?" She said, echoing the words her father had said before.
Y/N's mother nodded, acknowledging both factors at play. "Yes, that's partly true."
Then, her gaze firmly met Y/N's directly, "But the main reason is because you will be inheriting what your father and I have built."
"Built...?" Y/N repeated with a confused expression, struggling to understand the meaning.
Then, with innocent curiosity, she turned her gaze back towards the people surrounding them.
At that moment, a realization dawned in her young mind, as if she were beginning to piece together the meaning of her mother's words.Y/N's mother continued with her explanation as she also glanced toward the people.
"The house we live in, the toys you play with, the clothes we wear, the food we eat... All of this comes from what your father and I accomplished. All of this will be yours one day."
Y/N's mother looked back at Y/N as she placed her hand against Y/N's face to turn her head to face her.
"So... Can you be a good girl?"
Y/N stared back at her mother with a mixture of hope, her small fist clutching her mom's dress tightly.
In a hesitant voice, she asked, "Will... Will this make dad and mom happy...?"
Y/N's mother smiled warmly as she lifted the young Y/N into her arms and affirmed, "We will be the happiest parents ever."
