The Zenin mansion was buzzing with the arrival of Maki to the estate. Haku sat in her room, desperately wanting to go see Maki, but being made to stay put. But when she felt a weakening of both her and Mai's cursed energies, Haku jumped up, rushing out of her room.

She paused outside one of the rooms as she heard the voices of Naoya and Jinshi inside. Listening in, Haku heard Jinshi telling Naoya they needed to take advantage of the second of the 6 notices from the Jujutsu Higher ups, the one branding Gojo Satoru a traitor and the same to anyone who attempted to help them. Jinshi's voice was firm as he stated, "We must execute Fushiguro Megumi, Maki, and Mai as rebels plotting to free Gojo Satoru."

Maki! Mai! Their cursed energy fading wasn't coincidence! Haku turned to run when the door flew open and Noaya emerged, snatching Haku by the wrist. He yanked her closer, his face mere inches from hers, a scowl plastered on it. "No, you don't little wife-to-be. I think it's time you learned your place!" He slammed Haku up against the wall, pinning her in place. Jinshi exited the room, paying no mind to Naoya and Haku.

Alarm bells rang throughout the compound, and one of the youngest Zenin members, Ranta, rushed down the hall towards them. "Master Jinshi! Maki has gone mad!! She cut down Master Ogi! The Kukuru Unit has gone to confront her!"

A look of genuine hurt and surprise passed Jinshi's face. So some of the Zenin really had a heart, at least a little. Jinshi took off, Leaving Haku and Naoya. Haku glared at Naoya, who looked just as shocked and thoroughly irritated. "Looks like your plan failed. Maki isn't some weakling like you think!"

"Shut it!" Naoya's grip on her wrist tightened painfully, a smirk returning to his face. "No matter. So what, she got lucky and beat Ogi, who is far from the most talented among us here. She'll be dead in no time. And then I'm going to enjoy teaching you your place." his free hand stroked up her side, over her breast and up to her throat where it wrapped around, squeezing lightly.

Haku's eyebrow twitched. This had to be the time for her to join back up with Yuta and the others. "How about I show you yours!" Haku's cursed energy flared, and she kicked up, hitting Naoya square in the jaw, forcing him to release her. She jumped back, her petals appearing and gathering around her.

Naoya was livid, rubbing his chin with a look that could kill. "You little... I'm going to make you regret that. You'll beg me to treat you like a wife after this!"

"The only one begging will be you if you lay a hand on my Kohai." Haku's eyes widened in shock at the figure before her. Disfigured from burns, covered in blood, and still strikingly beautiful, stood Maki, glaring cold daggers at Naoya.

"Maki... you.... You're cursed energy.... And Mai...." Haku had only ever felt this absolute lack of cursed energy yet raw power in one other person, and that was Fushiguro Toji. Somehow, Maki had become like Toji, forming a heavenly pact from Mai's death, and gaining immense power without a drop of cursed energy.

Maki turned to Haku, the look of grief and hatred in her eyes chilled Haku to the bone. "Mai's gone. She's with me now. You need to go, Yuta told you where to meet them, right? Go there."

Haku shook her head. "Maki, I can't leave you to deal with this alone! At least let me..."

"Go!" Maki snapped at Haku, her voice even and serious. Her eyes then snapped to Naoya who stood scowling at them. "I can handle this trash alone. This is MY clan. MY revenge. MY burden. Surly, you can understand that."

Haku could understand. This was the clan that had been her hell all her life, and Maki deserved to make the decision on what to do about it. Haku's opinion didn't matter here. "Be careful, Maki. No matter what, you're my friend and my Senpai."

Haku took a step forward, crimson eyes trained on Naoya. "I will never be your wife, and you will never be clan head. You think a woman should always walk behind you? That's the best place to stab you in the back. Wallow in your own self-pity as a woman kicks your ass." With those words, Haku turned, running from the Zenin compound. She needed to meet up with everyone else and save Gojo. Heart heavy with both hope and grief, Haku made her way to meet up with everyone else.

Maki would go on to not only kill everyone at the Zenin estate, save Naoya who survived only to be stabbed in the back by Maki's mother. In the following days, most all the remaining Zenin clan members would mysteriously die violent deaths. All 6 members of the Hei, 9 members of the Akashi, and 21 members of the Kukuru units. No residuals would be found at any scene, but trace amounts of cursed energy from a cursed tool were detected in the wounds of the bodies, assuring none could arise as curses. The Gojo and Kamo clans proposed removing the Zenin clan from The Big Three, and Jujutsu Headquarters has kept the verdict on hold.
