I've been reading through this book again, and I realized how clumsily written it is. Here are a few common thoughts I was thinking while reading it.
" Why does my life sound like a sob story?"
" When did this happen?"
" OH MY GOD WHY DID I WRITE THIS?!"
" I sound like a little bitch."
" I was this ignorant?"
" Why am I so dramatic about this Oh My God."...Yeah, so I'm deciding to redo chapters, because I feel my position on a topic has changed since a year ago. My first redo is my chapter about shipping.
This is probably one of the topics I've changed the most on. I used to be a huge shipper, like I was all for TaoRis, GTop, etc.
Now I don't really give a fuck about any of it now.
I don't care if you ship, I just don't anymore. I just got bored honestly, and I grew out of it. The main reason I stopped though is because I realized that half of these fanfics are utter crap.
Now, I am not saying that automatically all fanfiction is bad, or that yours is bad. I have read good ones. Ones where I'm wondering why have you not been published yet? And then...the ones where I am questioning how much stupid the human mind can take.
And while there are some horrid gay fanfics, it's the straight ones that can really go bad. Straight fanfics are hit or miss. Sometimes, it's out of the park, like, it's so amazing you can't believe this isn't published. And then...the stereotypical ones with bad grammar and...God.
There actually was a K-Pop fanfiction published, I can't remember the name of it, but I decided to read a few chapters and...it was an Asian fetish book. I was SO uncomfortable. The author was white, was throwing random Korean words, had a strange plot line, and was like " Wow Asians do these weird things and all Asians are hot." Here's the thing, when you write about another race or ethnicity, you check that you aren't getting a part of their culture wrong, or that you aren't turning the other race into your own fetish. Straight fanfics can go so wrong and has such bad stereotypes.
And Gay fanfics you aren't innocent either! Sometimes you should probably lay off the dirty humor and the smirks. Seriously why does everyone smirk? Is smirking a common thing? It's like people smirk every 5 minutes, chill bro. And the dirty humor...God a person can only take so much, tone it the fuck down. Also, I get really annoyed because the Sub of the couple is completely helpless and weak and emotional. God, grow some balls. Princess Peach is stronger than you.
And weirdly enough, I don't see this nearly as much non-romantic fanfics. Most of the problems are in the romantic ones. Like, right now, I'm reading a lot of mafia fanfics, they are awesome. Just something exciting about K-Pop idols being gang members and fighting other gangs. And what I've noticed is if you have no romantic interest, it suddenly is better. I'm not saying romance fanfics are bad...but I like when it focuses on other things, romance is old for me.
I know this is controversial on a writing platform, but damn, some people need to spend more time on their writing, and stop putting stereotypical shit in their books, because it gets old and probably wasn't even good from the start anyways. Good night and I Will be back with another chapter soon.
