Aish, these people give me a headache. You know who I'm talking about. The people in your neighborhood, your school, and your work places who believe they know allll about k-pop, they are just fucking experts on this genre.
"Oh, I like Psy. Oppa Gangnam Style."
....Anybody else? I mean Psy is great and all...but what about SJ, or maybe Big Bang? Or are you more into girl bands, like SNSD and 2NE1?
" Heeeeeyyyyyy, sexy lady. Op. Op, op, op, Oppa Gangnam Style."
I'll take that as a no. Look, I like the song Gangnam Style, I see why it got popular, and I'm glad we got a lot of k-poppers through this song...but you are not a k-pop fan if you just like Gangnam Style, ok?
So today, I was talking with a friend, I just met her 2 months ago, she's pretty cool. I'll just call her A ( PLL reference O_o). And I tell her I like k-pop and Asian music. And she's like " Hey I do too!"
And I get kind of excited, she knows what it is and she likes it! I always wanted a real life k-pop buddy I could go to. So I ask her who her bias is, her bias group, all dat jazz, and she says the worse answer.
" Oh, I like Psy and Gangnam Style."
Worst freaking response to say! These are the words you do not say to a kpop fan! And I was about to go all Fangurilla on her but I got control of my temper and ask calmly. "...He's ok, but there are so many others who are waaaay better. Do you like anybody else?"
" Is there anything else but Psy?"
Excuse me while I crumple up into a ball over in that corner of the closet. Guys I couldn't do it. I kinda of went saesang on her, I'm so ashamed in myself ( sobs). Ok it wasn't that serious but I scoffed at her and gave her "the list." Yes I actually made a list of all bands don't judge.
Really though why are these people so naive? Is the only famous book series Harry Potter? Is the only pop star Michael Jackson? Is the only famous kid movie Cinderella? No! They may be some of the most famous, but there are others that are famous also! Would Big Bang win the Best WorldWide Act if they weren't famous? No! But they are, so they won. Would Girls Generation have won video of the year if they weren't well known? No! They wouldn't have! But they are, so they won!
Psy is not the only famous k-pop star. I get if some people don't research much about it, but don't call yourself an expert when you know your not! You honestly know nothing about kpop, and your kind annoys me! Just stop...please? :(
