This is a personal rant, but it pisses me off, and I need to rant about it!

And that is when people accuse me of trying to be Asian or a Koreaboo because of my fucking name!

First of all, I go by Chen not just on Wattpad, but in the real world as well. And I'll explain why.

So my real name is Gretchen, which is German. And I have always hated nicknames that people tried to give me. Call me Greta or Gretel and I won't acknowledge you, because that's not my name and I get pissed when people think it is. I absolutely despise these nicknames.

But in middle school, before I got into K-Pop, I had a friend who wanted to give me a nickname, but I told her no Greta or Gretel. But what she did come up with was Chen, as in GretCHEN. And I actually liked that. Soon enough, I just started going by Chen, because I like it more than Gretchen.

And as for Chen, I didn't find out his stage name until a few days after I found Exo. I asked in the YouTube comments who's this person at 1:11 or something in this video, and the person who answered me said Kim Jongdae, not Chen. So I already liked Chen before I found out his name.

But when I started liking K-Pop, people forgot that I started going by Chen before kpop, and now they think I'm some Asian wannabe. Even my own family thinks Im doing it because Chen is my bias, which pisses me off. He and kpop have nothing to do with my name, and people know that.

I don't know why people accuse me of trying to be Asian when I'm just stating my fucking name. I have no intention of trying to be Asian, I may like Asian things, but in reality, I know I'm white. That's just a fact of life, that I am white. I'm not trying to be what I'm not.

Also I'm not changing my name back to Gretchen. Only a few people are allowed to call me Gretchen, the rest get to call me Chen. This has been my name since 5th grade, and I shouldn't have to change my name because people think I'm trying to be Asian.
