It felt like Superboy had been carrying me for HOURS. I drifted off to sleep in his arms several times and had to jolt myself back to reality. At this point, we were just walking along the side of the freeway.

We finally came up on the seventh exit and Superboy took it.

"Where're we going?" I asked him. My voice came out all cracky because I hadn't been using it and I hissed in pain from the involuntary movement on my back muscles.

"We need to change your bandages," he replied. "Actually, we probably should've at the previous exit. Better late then never I suppose. Plus, I can smell the blood and it needs to be changed soon."

He then pushed open a gas station door open and the guy behind the counter froze when he saw us. I  had forgotten that holding a shirtless girl with a bullet wound in her back who also happened to be wearing a mask was probably very disconcerting. Not to mention a guy with the "S" was holding her up with literally no effort.

Conner looked at the man and said, "Hi, got any bandages that could cover a bullet wound on someone's back?"

The man nodded quickly and disappeared to the back of the store. Conner watched as he came back with a wrap of medical tape and bandages. He handed them to Superboy as he set down five dollars on the counter using one arm to support me. We walked out of the gas station and towards a nearby park bench. He set me down on the soft, fluffy grass and made me sit up. Slowly, he took off the bandages and I cringed in pain.

"Sorry," he muttered and continued to unwrap the top part of my body. I clenched my fists and spots danced across my vision. He could tell that I was in a huge amount of pain and he gripped my hand. I squeezed it tightly as the last stretch of bandage came of and I gave a small whimper of pain. His super-hearing probably could detect that.

He took out an alcohol swab and started cleaning off some of the blood that had seeped through the stitches. I took an intake of air and I forced myself not to cry. It stung so much.

"Almost done," he whispered soothingly to me. He made quick work of them wrapping the new bandages around the top part of my body and I sighed with relief when he was done. "There," he whispered again, "all done."

I closed my eyes and sighed with relief. Superboy then pulled me into his broad chest and I rested my head on his shoulder. It felt so nice to be held like that and it was a small sense of comfort after all of the crap I had been going through. I subconsciously nuzzled closer into him and realized that it was getting to late afternoon.

"Thank you," I whispered and he rubbed my arms.

"You're welcome, Jasmine," he replied. "I know it's been pretty sucky lately, but you'll get through this." I knew that he meant it because he planted a kiss on my forehead. And I didn't stop him. It wasn't anything major, but it did make me feel better. I slowly drifted off to sleep, with a small smile on my lips.
