I glared ahead as I flew through the nigth sky trying to clear my head. Superboy was right. I needed to mess some things up. I didn't care what...I just needed to destroy something. Anything!
I saw a junkyard where an old abondoned car was parked next to it. I drifted down to it and placed my hand on the windshield. Then, I found a convenient baseball bat just sitting in the pile next to it. I didn't even question why it was there. I picked it up, and smashed it as hard as I could into the driver seat window. The glass shattered on contact. I then went around to the front and destroyed the front headlights. I jumped on the hood and lifted the baseball bat behind me and slammed it down onto the windshield.
It made a nice whole and I hit it once more to break the rest of it. The shattering of the gas rang through the cold air and I screamed as my bat slammed down on top of the hood in front of me. I continued to hit every single part of the car that I could in a blind rage and, before I knew it, I had compeltely totaled the car. I was about to continue, when I felt a firm grip grab my wrist.
The hand twisted my arm and the baseball bat fell from my grip. I was then pulled of from the top of the now desolated roof of the car. Nightwing didn't say anything, but he pulled me into a tight hug. It was then that I realized that my hands were bloody from all of the glass and my face was also bleeding and so were my thies where they were bare. In fact, everywhere where I wasn't protected had glass shards in them.
"Jay," his soothing voice said to me. "Calm down. You've been beating the shit out of that car for a straight twenty five minutes and there is glass sticking out from all over you."
He then pulled me away from the car and made me sit down on the ground. He started pulling out the glass and I barely flinched. He had brought alcohol swabs and he gently dabbed the scratches all over me.
When he was done, he pulled me into him from my back and I rested my head on his chest. Then, a thought struck me. Life was way too short to waste time being pissed all the time. I had already wasted two weeks of my life that I would never get back. So, I sat up, turned and jammed my lips onto his.
His whole body froze for a split second, then he leaned back and wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in. He then stood up and lifted me up with him. Both of my arms went up and around his neck as our lips moved together in sync. His hands slithered down my back and his lips moved down gradually to my neck. I felt his hands lift me into the air.
"You do realize that we're making out in a dump, right?" I asked him.
"Don't care," he replied and placed his lips back onto mine. I felt the world desolve around me and I couldn't help but smile as I ran my fingers through his messy black hair. I wrapped my legs tightly around him and his lips kissed my ear lobe. It tickled and I giggled as he did so.
He then groaned and stopped. "What?" I asked.
One of his hands went up to his radio while the other still held me up. "Copy that, Miss Martian. I'll be there soon."
I then groaned and hopped off of him. "Really? That girl has the WORST timing!"
He laughed and said, "We'll continue this later in a more sanitary place. Right now, there's a crime spree that's going on in a little remote town in the west that apparently needs to be addressed."
I smiled and planted a single kiss on his cheek. "I can be patient."
He smiled back, gave me a hug, and then ran off.
My heart was SOARING! I felt AMAZING! It felt so good, a lot better then beating the poor car next to me senseless.
However, as most stories go, just as everything seems to be looking up, it decides to go straight back to hell.
"Jasmine Hale," a familiar voice said and I turned to see who it was.
"Lex? Lex Luthor?" I asked in shock. "How do you know who I am?"
A sly smile crept across his lips that sent an unpleasant chill up my spine. "Why, I am your long lost father, my dear sweet Blue Jay."
I rolled my eyes and started laughing. Quite loudly. "Are you serious?! You can't HONESTLY expect me to believe you! My mom was a drug addict and you wouldn't be caught dead with her!" I laughed even louder and leaned over to try and stop myself. "Oh, Lex, go try some other poor orphaned girl to manipulate. You aren't gonna find what you want here."
His reaction was WAY too priceless! I started to walk off, when he shook my very core by saying, "Your mother was five feet seven, had a tattoo on her rear, and had the most beautiful electric-blue eyes. I see that you've inherited them."
I lifted an eyebrow. "What does THAT prove? You could've asked any guy on my old street about her and they would've gladly given you details. Sorry, buddy, you're gonna have to try a bit harder then that to-"
He tossed me something and I almost puked.
It was her ring.
Mama's ring.
She told me when I was six that she gave my "daddy" her ring so that he would never forget her. Ever. She had shown me a picture of it. I looked on the inner ring and tears flooded my eyes. "Her name is Jasmine," was engraved on the inside of the ring. My hand went up to my mouth and I suddenly felt very dizzy.
But then I got mad.
"So you decided," I snapped and clenched the ring in my hand, "that after SEVENTEEN YEARS, you would finally come and see your daughter? Seventeen FUCKING YEARS?!?!"
Lex, however, was completely composed. "Jasmine, listen to me. It was bad for my image, but I did love your mother. At the time, I was considering taking her with me, but then, bad things came up. Things that couldn't be avoided, and I had to leave. I put that ring away in a very special place where it would be kept safe, until the day that I could return it to you."
He then stepped closer to me and my body wouldn't let me move.
"Jasmine," he continued and placed a hand on my shoulder. "I want to make things right between us. Come with me, and we can start over. I know that it will never be the perfect father-daughter relationship, but I want us to try. It's what your mother would want."
I looked down at my feet and shook my head. I felt tears threatening to spill. I never once expected in my whole entire like that Lex Luthor would ever end up being my father.
I bit my lip, and finally, I said, "I'm sorry, but I can't go anywhere with you. You are NOT a good person. I'm not either, so I guess I got that from you. But I'm not evil. I'm not going to abandon the friends that I've FINALLY made, just because you decided to show up. Okay, fine. I MIGHT go with you. But I need some time. Do you understand how shocking it is to know that your father is world famous?"
He gave me a friendly smile and said, "No, and I am sorry. I'll give you some time to think about it." Lex reached into his pocket and pulled something else out "Here's my personal phone. No one but me will ever answer it. Call it when you are ready."
And with that, he turned, and left. My knees buckled underneath me and I collapsed onto the ground. Of course this just had to happen to me...
