A few days later...

Kakucho, Kanji, Izana, and Kana were gathered at one of their shared properties—a high-rise building they often used as a neutral spot to meet clients.

Kana sat cross-legged on the couch beside Izana, eyes glued to her phone screen as she furiously tapped away at her game. Every now and then, she opened her mouth expectantly, and Izana fed her a potato chip from the bag she'd bought earlier.

Kakucho and Kanji stood nearby. Kakucho was near the window, his eyes scanning the streets below. Kanji was closer to the door, cracking his knuckles.

"They're here." Kanji announced.

Izana straightened, his hand still resting on Kana's shoulder. Kakucho adjusted his stance. Kana, however, only slid her eyes toward Izana. She clutched his sleeve.

Izana glanced down at her. "Don't worry. I'll protect you."

Kana scoffed, her cheeks puffing in annoyance. "I'm not scared. We're just here for shopping."

Izana just chuckled and reached out to ruffle her hair. The preteen's face turned red in an instant.

The doors swung open, and soon, a tall figure strode inside. He was dressed in a perfectly tailored three-piece suit. Behind him followed his assistant, who carried two leather briefcases.

"Gentlemen," the man greeted. He dipped his head in a nod. "It is an honour to finally stand in your presence. The pleasure is entirely mine."

Kanji was weirded out. "The hell is this guy..." Izana silenced him with a glare.

The man continued, "My name is Takahiro Manabe."

Kana leaned up toward Izana, whispering, "Is he for real, or is he just pretending to be in a drama?"

Izana covered his mouth with his hand, shoulders shaking with silent laughter, while Kakucho remained professional.

Takahiro's gloved hands rested atop his cane as he inclined his head toward Izana. "I must express my gratitude to Mr. Haitani for arranging this encounter. Allow me to assure you—I deal only in the most exquisite, the most refined goods. Nothing less would be worthy of your attention."

With a gesture of his fingers, his assistant stepped forward, placing the two briefcases upon the table before Izana and Kana.

Takahiro's gaze shifted, noticing Kana seated beside Izana. Their eyes met briefly. There was a flicker of surprise in his gaze before he promptly looked away, his smile returning as he turned back to the white-haired yakuza.

"Please," he invited, "indulge yourself in what I have brought."

The assistant snapped open the briefcases. The lids lifted to reveal a dazzling sea of jewels, all neatly arranged upon dark velvet. Most prominent among them were the rings.
