That night...
Strings of soft golden lights glimmered across the rooftop, illuminating the table set just for two with white linen, crystal glasses, and roses in a vase that swayed gently with the wind.
Y/n stood by the railing, lost in the stars. Her arms were wrapped around herself, a smile playing on her lips even as the chill brushed against her skin. A familiar scent of cologne hit her as a blazer draped over her shoulders. "Sorry," Izana's voice broke the silence. He stepped closer, his silver hair catching the moonlight. "Was it too cold? We can have dinner inside-"
Y/n shook her head immediately, turning to face him. "No... I love it here, 'Zana. Let's enjoy our dinner here." Izana just looked at her before his lips curved into that smile she fell for every single time. He pulled out her chair. "Then we'll stay." He helped her sit before taking his own seat beside her.
Above them, the stars watched in silence. It was just the two of them. Izana had booked the entire rooftop just to make sure of that. And somewhere a few floors below, Manjiro was stuck playing board games with Kana (he loved it though), her laughter echoing faintly through the open windows as she finally defeated him for once.
Izana and Y/n ate together, their laughter filling the rooftop air. Every now and then, he would lift his fork to her lips, saying "Say ah," and she would comply just to see the satisfied smile that followed.
When Izana leaned forward for another bite from Y/n, she shook her head playfully. "Nope, no more."
"What do you mean, no more?"
"I said no," she repeated, fighting a grin. His lips formed sulky pout. "I don't want it anyway."
Y/n giggled, moving closer to poke his cheek. "Oh, don't sulk." Izana refused to look at her. Taking her chance, Y/n quickly slipped the fork between his lips. Izana was caught completely off guard.
"Got you," she exclaimed proudly, trying not to laugh as he chewed. When he swallowed, his lips curved upward. "You really don't play fair."
"Not with you," she teased, dabbing the corner of his mouth with her handkerchief. He watched her lovingly, his gaze softening. "You remember...that time I promised to take you out for a nice dinner someday?"
Y/n's hand paused. "Of course I do, 'Zana." He looked around the rooftop. "Well, that day's finally here."
Her heart melted a little. "You kept your promise," she murmured, her gaze tender as she brushed her thumb against his jaw. "But even if you didn't... even if you never had the chance to give me any of this.... I would still stay. I would still choose you, every time. In this life...and in the next."
Izana reached for her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers before pressing a kiss to her knuckles. "Then I'll find you in every life," he swore. "...Y/n," he whispered her name, almost breathless.
