💜🌌
The dawn appeared in the sky, casting a red glow all over it, spreading an odd kind of calmness and peace. A new day had begun with new hope.
Aurora stirred in her sleep and slowly opened her swollen, red eyes. Her cheeks were marked by dried trails of her own tears.
She trembled slightly from the cold air of the AC in her room.
Her brown eyes roamed around as she sat up on the bed. Last night's events replayed in her mind, and she wished it had all been a horrifying dream-but it wasn't. It was all real.
A heavy sigh escaped her lips as she tilted her head and spotted Victor on the couch, shivering from the cold.
Her eyes softened, and she quietly increased the temperature before walking towards him with a blanket in her hands. Carefully, she covered him with it.
Aurora's body moved on its own as she knelt on the floor beside him to match his level. Her eyes fixed on his sleeping face-calm and composed, yet silently burdened with guilt.
She gently brushed his baby hairs aside and just stared at him. She looked at him like she never wanted to look away.
A trembling sigh left her lips before she whispered softly.
"I'm j-just scared to see that side of you again..." her voice broke, trembling with fear.
As she began to rise, a hand clasped around her wrist-firm enough to stop her, but gentle enough not to hurt.
Victor's grip tightened slightly around her wrist as he looked into her eyes-haunted, desperate.
"I didn't mean to-Aurora, please, you have to believe me!"
his voice cracked, shaking under the weight of regret.
"I didn't know what came over me. I lost control-I lost everything. But not for one second did I stop loving you. Not even then."
He let go of her wrist only to seize her hands, gripping them like they were the last solid thing in his collapsing world.
"I'm sorry. My love, I'm so sorry," he choked.
"If I could take it back-I would rip time apart to undo it. I'd erase myself if that's what it took."
Aurora remained silent, her gaze fixed on him. She didn't flinch. Didn't pull away. Just listened-quietly, painfully.
Victor's voice grew harsher, rising like a fevered wind.
"Hell, I swear to everything that is holy-I'd burn this world down if it meant keeping you. I'd torch every last corner of it, just to hear you call my name again."
His chest heaved, but the words kept spilling.
"I would ruin kingdoms. Shatter heavens. Set fire to fate itself if it meant being with you. Don't you get it? I'd trade every breath left in this cursed life just to hold you without fear."
"I should've died before meeting you," he muttered, eyes flickering with torment.
"Then maybe you'd be free of this... of me."
"Stop," she whispered, her voice tight-but he didn't.
"Maybe if I never touched your life, you'd still be smiling. Still be whole. Not carrying the pieces of my mess-"
Before he could finish, Aurora leaned forward and pressed her lips to his.
It was sudden. Quiet. But it hit like thunder.
His breath caught. His eyes closed. The storm paused.
When she finally pulled away, her forehead rested against his, and her trembling hands stayed wrapped around his.
"No more talk of death," she breathed. "Not when you're here... and I still see the man I love."
"Just promise me you'll never be that again," Aurora whispered, her voice almost pleading. "Even when it gets worse. Even when you're hurt. I saw your demeanor when Dad described how you behaved... when he mentioned our divorce."
