Part Twenty-Eight

Levi's POV

"How about a pet rat, huh? Our landlord would never know it's a pet! He would just think it got in here from the alleyways!" Hanji says.

They've been getting on my nerves the whole way home about a fucking pet! And after all that they come up with a rat! A fucking rat!

"Hanji, if you so much as even think about touching a rat, I will skin you alive! I don't give a dam about a landlord, I'm not living with a rat!" I walk into the apartment, pissed that they would even suggest something so disgusting to me.

"Ugh, fine! ...Buzzkill."

"I heard that!" I say as I slam my bedroom door.

————— Time Skip —————

It's been a couple hours. I cooked dinner for both me and Hanji and we've made our way to our bedrooms. Surprisingly, I'm pretty tired today. Maybe all of Hanji's babbling has finally caught up to me and I'll have a good night's sleep.

*Knock Knock Knock*

Or maybe fucking not. Who the fucking is knocking on the door at...

1 AM?!

Y'know what? No, I live in an apartment, maybe it's our neighbors. Who in their right mind would knock on our door so late at night. Yeah, that's it.

And with that thought, I close my eyes trying to go to sleep.

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

Well, shit! Now I know it's our door! Who's trying to knock our shit down.

I know Hanji won't wake up even for those loud ass knocks so I have no choice but to go my self.

With an aggravated sigh, I get out my bed and stomp my way to the door, hoping that the person on the other side hears and runs away before I get there.

I swing the door open, ready to give this asshole a new asshole, until I see who it is.

Armin...

And he's crying hysterically into his hands and sweating profusely... did he run here?! And why is he crying at my front door?

Before either of us say anything, I pull him into my apartment and close the door before any of our neighbors wake up from all the noise. He probably wouldn't want anyone staring at him when he's like this.

"Hey, Armin...what's wrong? Why are you crying? What happened? Why are you even here? How did you even get here?" He tries to answer me through his sobs but I can't make anything out.

So, I guess I have to find a way to calm him down first. I lead him towards my room, since there's something in there that could help.

I open the door and lead him to my bed, he's gotten a little quieter but I can still tell he's still upset.

I make him sit on the bed and grab the stuffed animal he left here the other night.

He stares at me wide eyed, "You still have it? I completely forgot that I left it here." He finally says.

"Why wouldn't I have it? It's not like I would throw it away or something. Take it and lay down. You need to calm down before you can tell me what happened."

With that, he grabs Urn, and lays down while looking at me, "Thank you..."

I don't say anything, instead, I leave for the kitchen. I fill up a glass of water for him and head back.

He's in the same spot I left him in. Curled up on my bed, sniffling. I place the cup of water on the nightstand beside him and walk around to my side of the bed.

I sit and turn the tv on to SpongeBob. Maybe that'll help calm him down. I watch the tv instead of him, because I doubt he would want me to stare.

We sit for a while, him watching the show and me listening to his sniffles fade gradually.

I don't say anything, he probably doesn't want to speak about it right away.

I look to my left and steal a glance at Armin's face. He fell asleep. With tears staining his cheeks.

I reach out slowly, and carefully wipe them away. I feel bad saying this in the type of situation he's in but, Armin looks...adorable when he sleeps.

With that thought, I turn the tv off and get under the cover. I didn't even realize he'd gotten under it as well. Less work for me.

Even though it's unusual for me to go to sleep, especially after being interrupted like earlier. I strangely find myself closing my eyes, yawning, and drifting off to sleep next to Armin.

Huh, this is the second time this has happened.

I think I like it.
