"Lexi." I woke up to see Willa and Amber sitting on either side of me. "Have you been crying?" I sat up and touched my cheek, it was wet and warm. My eyes felt a little puffy. I sighed, "What happened, Lexi?" Willa asked.
I opened my mouth but nothing but a tiny croak came out. "Let's get you inside." Amber whispered, helping me up and leading me inside, "Found her guys!" she called out when we got inside. Everyone came running in.
"There you are," Kyle whispered into my hair as he wrapped his arms around me. Amber and Willa stepped away hesitantly. "I was worried sick."
I sighed and whispered, "I'm okay, Kyle. Really."
I pulled away as Amber spoke up, "Well... now that we've found Lexi, why don't we spend the last morning here on the pier?"
Everyone agreed and I ran up to change into shorts, a white bikini top and a blue tank top over top and I threw on my black vans and did my makeup and brushed out my hair. Hopefully not too long after I ran upstairs I was running back downstairs, "Alright, lets got!" Amber called. I looked around to see Brandon smile and quickly place a kiss on Willa's lips as they were following Amber and Michael. I felt Kyle wrap his arms around me, but there was no Chace. "Where's Chace?" I called ahead to the others while we were walking the beach.
"What's it to you?" Kyle asked a little defensively.
"He's my best friend." I countered, stepping away from him.
"Not anymore it seems like." He rolled his eyes.
I raised my eyebrows, "He may have dropped me but i'm not dropping him. We've been friends since we were kids. I'm not losing him now."
Kyle sighed, "Give it up Lexi."
"No." I shot Kyle a glare, "I'll meet you at the pier."
the others, who had stopped to make sure we weren't gonna kill each other, nodded and pulled Kyle off. I turned around and ran back to the house. "Chace!" I called. No answer.
I hopped up the stairs and knocked on his bedroom door. No answer. I opened it slowly to see Chace sitting on the windowsill, looking out the window to the beach, "Chace...?"
He turned his head and looked over at me, then looked back outside.
I walked over and sat on the opposite side of him. I looked out the window to see he had a perfect view of our group of friends. "Why don't you come with us?" I whispered, trying to get him to talk to me.
He just shook his head.
"Chace, talk to me." I pleaded. I've never wanted my best friend to say something so badly.
"I don't know what to say," he finally shrugged his shoulders, "I have so much to say. I was right there last night. When Matt was talking to you... everything he said was true. I was just so angry at the party I didn't know what to think or say, so I tried to make you feel bad... that kind of blew up in my face," he chuckled lightly and weakly, "I watched you cry yourself to sleep last night. You have no idea how badly I wanted to go to you and make you feel better." he looked over at me, "But I couldn't. Your not mine. And what you did just now..." he nodded out at the beach, "Was the best thing a friend could ask for."
I smiled at him, "Well what else are best friends for?"
He pressed his lips together failing at hiding his smile. "Letting the other be happy is one thing..." he sighed, "I'm sorry Lexi."
I smiled at him," I'm sorry too." he opened his arms and I crawled across the bench finally making it to him and gave him the biggest hug I could I felt him lean back on the wall and I laughed, resting my head on his chest, "Your enjoying this way too much."
"Nah... just right." he chuckled. "Now, lets go to the pier!" I laughed as he slipped his black ray bans over my eyes and we walked the beach, joking and laughing the whole way. Older couples passed us, I saw them smile at us then each other whisper things. Yep, this is pretty much like old times, when we were kids.
Me? I was just happy to have my Chace back.
