I woke up the next morning later than I expected. I got out of bed, not bothering to change out of my pyjamas yet, and dropped the ladder so I could climb down from my room. I searched through the house for any sign of my parents. None. I walked into the kitchen to find a note taped to the fridge.
"Lexi, We went to the town over to run some errands. We won't be home until after dinner. Feel free to order in any kind of food you want. Try to finish painting that room of yours! Love you. Mom and Dad."
I took a breath and ran back upstairs. I took a quick shower, got out and blow dried my hair and brushed it. I ran to my room and decided on what to wear I chose a old green t-shirt, a pair of black and orange shorts, and through my hair into a pony tail, then I put on a bit of eyeliner and mascara.
I went to open a can of paint when my stomach growled. I ran back downstairs and got and apple, bringing it up after I had washed it off. I plugged my phone into a speaker and played my music, and got to work after eating my apple. Stirring the paint and putting garbage bags on the floor. I had finished about half of the large walls when I heard a voice behind me, "Wow, nice room."
I jumped turning to see Chace. "How'd you get in?" I walked over to my phone, turning the music down. He shrugged lightly, "I knocked, there was no answer and the door was unlocked, and I heard music playing and I got curious, Green, eh?" He looked around at the painted walls.
"Lime green... It's an even colour." I smirked at him as he climbed up the ladder into my room completely.
He walked over to me, taking the brush from my hand. "Let's get to work then." I laughed as I grabbed a new brush and we worked in silence, painting away at the slightly slanted walls. Finally he spoke up "I didn't think you'd actually come back, let alone getting you're mom to let you use the attic as you're room like you've always wanted."
I looked over at him, surprised he remembers that. Oh right... We're soul mates forever. "It was easy actually." I find myself smiling. But shook it off, how can we be acting like nothing almost happened last night.
We work through lunch until the room was painted and furniture was pushed back. I smiled at our work when I feel the sharp cold paint as its splattered at me.
I turn to see Chace faking innocence, holding the brush. "Oh its on!" as I grab my paint brush and start flinging paint at him.
We laugh and fling paint at each other, occasionally slapping the other with the brush so there's brush marks on our skin and clothes. I let out a loud shriek as he goes to whack my cheek with the brush, but I back out of the way, flinging paint at him. A few more minuets of this and a half of the remaining paint later, I go to whack him with the brush but he wraps his arms around me and pulls me to him, restraining my arms, we're both laughing so much, our stomaches are starting to hurt.
I take a breath, then awkwardly step out of his arms. "Thanks for helping me with my room." I break the silence.
"Anytime." He smiled slightly.
We exchange slight smiles, then take a breath, "My parents are out... I was gonna order Chinese for dinner... do you want to stay?"
He looks at my clock then sighs, "I wish I could, but my parents are taking me out for a dinner thing with their friends at a some stupid seafood place... Sorry, Lexi." He pressed his lips together slightly, then gasped, "Hey can I use you're shower? If I go home looking like this, I'll be dead."
I nodded automatically and he thanked me, going down the ladder into the bathroom. He still remembers how my house is laid out... I wonder what else he remembers from when we were kids...
I shrug, quickly changing into sweats, and a pink T-shirt while he is in the shower. I walked downstairs into the living room. Chace came down the stairs, shaking his wet hair lightly with his fingers. I had sat on the couch, randomly channel surfing. He smiled at me, then it faded, "I better go..." I kind of nodded, then stood walking with him to the door. He steps out front, "If you're ever home alone or need help with anything, just call. Okay?" I nod and hold my breath as he kisses my forehead and turns, jogging home holding his paint covered shirt in his hands?
Has he been shirtless this whole time? I feel dizzy as I close the door and order my food. I couldn't help but wonder, no, hope that he'd break up with this Chloe girl so we could be together. I felt bad immediately for thinking something so mean, but I meant it. Especially after today, I just wished more then anything that he was mine.
