Lexi's POV
I woke up the next morning in my bed. I looked around sitting up and jumped when a snore cut through the silence. I looked down on the floor beside my bed to see Chace laying belly down on my rug. Fast asleep. I shook my head smiling at him then climbed out of bed, tip toeing over him, I climbed down my ladder to see a note taped on my bathroom door.
Dear Lexi,
we went out before the snow gets too bad to get a few last minute things. If we're not back by lunch the snow came in faster than we expected and we're stuck for a bit, We'll call if we get stuck longer the expected. Love you!
Mom and Dad.
I sighed then continued down the stairs into the kitchen. My stomach growled and I saw pancake mix in the pantry. Why not? Not five minutes later, the smell of pancakes filled the house, apparently waking Chace up because I heard him coming down the stairs with heavy and uneven footfalls, hinting as he was still half asleep. "I smell food." he announced as he rounded the corner into the kitchen.
"Very good," I laughed, "His nose still works. But can he... THINK FAST?!" I yelled throwing a cooled off pancake at his face. Of course he caught it and took a big bite.
"Whether he's half asleep or wide awake, this football all-star will be able to catch whatever comes at him." he smirked, taking another bite. I shook my head, washing the pan now that I was done flipping pancakes, "So, whats the plan for today? lock ourselves up in the attic and finish that giant pile of Christmas movies? or play in the snow until our heads fall off from the frostbite?"
I whacked him with the dish towel, "What is it with you and frostbite?" I teased. "Someones been watching too many movies."
"What can I say? Snow days call for movies." he shrugged. "Let me show you what I mean..." he smirked, then before I could move a muscle, he threw me over his shoulder, then made his way to the back door. He dropped me in a snow bank, then ran back inside, locking the door behind him.
I was already freezing when I made it to the door. I started pounding on it, "Chace! Chace let me in!... It's cold!" I whined. I heard his laugh on the other side of the door, "Chace please? you can't kick me out of my own house jerk!" I laughed out.
Finally the door opened and I ran back inside, hugging myself, my teeth chattering. "You suck." I breathed out through shivers. He shook his head slightly, turned me so I was facing the stove top and stood behind me, holding my hands over the still warm surface. After a while of his body heat and the heat from the stovetop my shivering stopped. I sighed lightly, feeling so much better.
"Better?" he asked and I nodded. He let my hands go and stepped back, letting me turn around.
"Well, I hope you packed for snow, because i'm so going back outside." I declared as I started for the stairs grabbing a pancake on the way.
"Even if I didn't don't forget I live right down the street!" Chace called after me, his mouth full of another pancake. I laughed and quickly changed into black skinny jeans, black long sleeved shirt, a grey beanie, black gloves, black boots and a red jacket. I walked downstairs, fixing my beanie when I saw Chace standing at the foot of the stairs, already dressed. "You have any idea how slow you are?" he joked and I shrugged, pushing him playfully. We raced into the snow.
I let myself plop into the cool frost, letting out a laugh. That's when I felt a ball hit the back of my head and poof away. I looked over to where it came from and saw Chace leaning against a tree trying to act like it wasn't him. "Game on!" I shouted, scooping up my own ball of snow and throwing it at him.
We laughed through our whole snowball fight until our cheeks and noses were rosy from the cold. "Lets head in, before-"
"Before our noses fall off from frostbite." I finished for him with a smirk. As we made our way to my back door from the yard , I realized that the level of snow has rose while we were out here. I made it inside just in time to hear my phone going off from the counter. I grabbed it and answered, "Hello?" I spoke first, watching Chace come in and close the door behind him.
"We're running behind. This snow. Sorry dear." I heard my dad call into the phone over the crowd in the background.
"Where are you guys?" I asked.
"We had to go into town, Lexi. We'll be home as soon as possible. Love you!!" he hung up before I got to answer.
I looked over at Chace, "They're snowed in." I shrugged. "Movie?" he nodded and I slipped in Rudolph. I slipped out of my jacket and pulled my gloves off then sat next to Chace on the couch. He wrapped a arm around my cold shoulders and I felt myself just melt into him. Holy crap he was warm!
Around two hours later, Chace and I were in a full on conversation about the why the reindeer wouldn't let Rudolph participate in the reindeer games. I stood from the couch and walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water. "I'm telling you, they were intimidated by him, They feared that he was more superior, which he turned out to be mind you, and kicked him out. And Santa only went along with it because he trusts his reindeer pets." I argued.
Chace followed me, "No, I'M telling YOU that they just thought he was a flat out alien." I shook my head at him, "I mean, what normal mom and normal dad make a mutant baby?" he pressed into his subject. "I mean, THAT makes no sense."
I rolled my eyes with a playful scoff and started for the stairs, the other movies were up in my room. "I think your full of it." I laughed.
He stopped me at the foot of the stairs, "You know what I think?" he asked. I leaned against the wall smirking, this had to be good, "I think your standing right under mistletoe..."
I looked up to see that dang mistletoe my parents always hang at the bottom of the stairs. I looked back at Chace, "I think i'll pass." I smirked.
"Rule breaker!" Chace declared. "You can't break the Christmas rules on Christmas eve, or you won't get didley squat from the big man."
I rolled my eyes, "That's a stupid rule..." but yet I found myself leaning towards him.
He started leaning towards me slowly, "Your a stupid rule.."
I couldn't think straight enough to make a come back. I felt my hands go to his face as we got closer and closer. Wait, Lexi! Your dating Kyle!... Kyle? Who's Kyle? The only thing on my mind was Chace...
Our lips had just barely touched when the door opened, "We're home!" my mom called. Chace jumped back just in time.
I sighed lightly, that was way to close.
