There was once a time where a bright, curious child would peek through the window of a quiet room, watching two boys inside as they played in silence. She'd watch them all day in astonishment, watching as one read a book or the other played with simple beads.

She once peeked into the room, watching the younger one with hair as light grayish blue hair, cough due to his sickness. He did everything he could to suppress his cough, covering his mouth and trying to stay quiet, however... "Shut up! Stop coughing! It's annoying!" The other would yell, covering his ears in pain as the child couldn't hold back any longer. "Why can't he cough if he's sick?" She would ask herself, frowning through the window as she watched them interact.

One day, everything had changed. The cruel child, one who was called god, held pitch black ink in his hand, covering the walls with it and called it "his world." The sick child stood there watching him, in fear, unable to bear the cruel words of how he was not needed, how he was useless, abandoned, and worthless. He sat in that room for a long time by himself, muttering those words over and over again.. even after the other child had left.

The girl who had been watching him for quite some time saw this as an opportunity, she clambered up to the window.. but slipped, falling into the room with a loud thud on the wooden floor, "Ouch!" She said, rubbing her head as she sat up.. catching the attention of the boy. He watched her, as she pushed herself off the ground, dusting her clothes before approaching him. "Hi, there!" She said with a grin, crouching infront of him, and innocently waving her hand.

The child was silent, unsure of whether to trust this stranger or not. "W-why are you here.." He quietly asked, glancing up at her, and staring into her big curious eyes. He had never interacting with a child, beside the cruel kid, not even with his own zodiac kind, who often interacted with each other. "I'm here to save you!" She brightly said, offering her hand. "Save me?" He asked, blinking in surprise.

"Yes! You need a superhero to save you from this 'pitch black world,' don't you?" She asked, her hand still hanging in the air as she patiently waited for him to take it. "B-but i'm a sick worthless child.." He quietly responded, unsure of whether he should stain this bright child with the black ink of his. "Says who?" She asked, tilting her head in curiosity. "Akito..." He responded, as she blinked in surprise.

"No one has the right to determine your worth but yourself! I don't think you're worthless! And neither should you!" She responded, as he stared up at her, an expression of surprise on his face. He had never heard such words, not from his mother, brother, or the child he frequently played with. "Really? I'm not worthless?" He asked once again, as she nodded her head. "Really! If I, Sohma (Name), say you're not worthless, then you're not!"

"(Name)?" He repeated, as she nodded her head once again. "Yes, that's my name! What's yours?" She asked, taking his hand into her own. "Yuki.. Sohma Yuki." He answered her, as the child smiled brightly. "Hmmm.. Yu-ki... Ki.. Ki-chan! That's your new name! Ki-chan!" She responded, as Yuki blinked in surprise.. a small smile upon his face. The two flinched when they heard an adult voice approaching them.

The young girl quickly scrambled on her feet, panicking as she ran towards the window. "Your superhero has to leave right now! But i'll see you again!" She urgently whispered, hopping onto furniture as she attempting to climb the window once again. Yuki got up, slowly making his way towards the window. Once she had safely landed on the other side she popped her head back in. "Bye, Ki-chan!" She brightly said, waving before running of.

Yuki peeked out of the window watched her run towards a younger child, a zodiac member he recognized, the spirit of the cow.. the two held hands as they walked away. After that day, their interactions became rather frequent. Akito, would come, "play" with Yuki, say harsh cruel words and then leave. Soon after, the child would stumble into the room via window, stay and play with him for awhile and leave before anyone could find out.

He didn't flinch when Akito left that day. Instead, he waited by the window. Yuki's demeanor had changed, his eyes that once seemed hopeless were now filled with hope, and warmth. He no longer cared for the words that others spewed, or minded the lack of affection from the people in his life.. since there was one person who provided both for him. "Let's go on an adventure!" She one day said, beckoning him towards the window, as she stood on the other side. "An adventure?"

With the help of the young girl, the two ran away from the dark room. She introduced him to her friends, kids his age, and together they explored the Sohma estate. However Yuki, who was having too much fun got too excited and forgot to be wary of girls.

A poof of blue smoke appeared as you and the other kids stood there in surprise, a small tiny rat emerged from beneath the clothes, in fear. The kids behind you, screamed and ran away in surprise. But the girl stood there, staring at him, her eyes filled with curiosity. She carefully approached him, crouching in front and lifting him into her tiny hands.

"You're just like my brother!" She said, staring at the rat who was surprised that she wasn't disgusted or scared. "Truthfully, i'm a little scared of rats... but you're Ki-chan, aren't you?" She added, watching him squirm in her hands as she laughed. "That's so cool, Ki-chan!" She said, as Yuki blinked in surprise. His zodiac form was always met with disgust or hatred, no one had ever said something like this.

At the end of the day, all the kids, with the exception of the young girl who already knew the family secret, had their memories erased. They were the first friends Yuki had made on his own, so it was a little disheartening to hear they had lost their memories, but the young girl took Yuki's hand into her own, and gave it a squeeze. "I'm still here! You can always make more friends!"

That day, Yuki crouched into a ball, and bawled his eyes out, clutching your hands in his own as he screamed and wailed. Truthfully, all Yuki wanted was a warm family, friends who stay, a home to return to.. more than anything he resented being alone.

And all his life, he was alone. His family basically abandoned him with the "God," "God" himself found Yuki to worthless, a simple pastime, he didn't have friends, he didn't have a home. But he had this girl, and for the first time that was enough.
