It was obvious that eavesdropping is bad, a general rule that all kids were taught. But you couldn't help yourself when you stumbled upon Yuki talking about your childhood memories and how he truly feels about you. So, you did what any normal person would do in this situation, you clamped a hand over your mouth and hid behind a wall, watching as Yuki talked to Kakeru about you..
"I didn't even want to recall something from when I lived in isolation and my family abandoned me. I first met (Name) then." Yuki said, smiling as he recalled the memory of you falling into the dimly lit room. "She snuck in, and came to cheer me up." He added, your words still vividly playing in his head. "After that, I started to see her more often. She helped me make friends, introduced me to the rest of my family."
"We were both little yet she was always so dependable and mature." Yuki said, remembering all those time he was crying and you were there to comfort him. Your heart skip a beat and how fondly he was talking about you, you grew giddy with joy. "If there's any reason I survived in that place it was because of her. She made me want to do my best. I decided to persevere and survive, because the world's not all darkness."
"She listened to all my complaining without getting bored or frustrated. And accepted me for who I am. She didn't reject the fact that there are people as weak as me and instead went out of her way to help them gain strength. It made me so happy. I felt so at peace. Her kindness continues to shows over me. I go to bed at peace, knowing there's one person out there who loves me unconditionally, in a place where i'll be protected."
"But I couldn't handle it. I grew weak again. I started losing ground again. The darkness was immense and overwhelming. I couldn't manage to show my face to her, after she fought so hard to get me out of that darkness.. so I avoided her. Ran away from that place." Yuki said, Kakeru glancing at him as he listened intently. "I was an idiot. Hope turned to despair. My adoration turned to envy."
"I wanted him to like me... I wanted to be friends. That's all I wanted. Ultimately, I just withdrew into my own shell. I rejected the world, and her, to protect myself. I was lost." Yuki continued, clenching his fists as he looked away. You turned to glance at him, the silhouette of his back trembling. You could figure out who he was talking about, but you couldn't convince Kyo to like Yuki.
"But then she appeared before me once again to remind me of what i'd forgotten. She was there again, and stayed close. She listened to what someone like me had to say. She wasn't disgusted and didn't scold, unless it worried her. Over and Over. Time after time, from the very first time, she accepted me. She's precious to me." Yuki said, gazing up at the setting sun. "So radiant and warm like the sun. I'm afraid she'll disappear just like it." He said with a sigh.
"Then... wouldn't it be your turn to appear before her, like she always did?" Kakeru asked, as Yuki blinked in surprise, unexpecting Kakeru to say something useful. "You said she's the one who's always appeared before you and was there for you. So now it's your turn, right?" Kakeru asked again, as Yuki let out a chuckle, softly nodding his head. "You're right."
Kakeru got up, smiling as he tossed the soccer ball up in the air, playing around with it. He tossed to Yuki after a moment, "It's up-to you to make sure she doesn't disappear, to show her what her presence means to you, how it makes you feel. And you never know, maybe she's thinking the same thing." Kakeru said, asking Yuki to throw the ball back. "Maybe."
"You're right. I shouldn't worry about silly things, instead I should do everything possible to show her what she means to me." Yuki said, kicking the ball as hard as he could. "There you go!" Kakeru said, catching the ball with his chest as he went back to dribbling. "This might be one of the only times you've been useful." Yuki said, glancing at Kakeru who crouched to grab the ball.
"Don't make me blush, Yun-yun!" Kakeru yelled, throwing the ball straight at Yuki's face. "That hurt!" Yuki yelled, throwing the ball back at Kakeru's stomach. Kakeru kicked the ball back at Yuki, "What the hell! Show more gratitude, dude!" He yelled back as Yuki kicked the ball back. "Are you trying to give me a bloody nose?" Yuki asked, as the two of them kicked it back and forth at each other. "Gimme your phone! I'll snap a pic of your nonexistent bloody nose!"
You glanced at the two of them, fighting amongst each other. Despite their yelling, you could only smile at their friendship. You were glad you were such a precious existence to Yuki, as he was to you. And you were even happier that Yuki had someone like that by his side.
