Hi everyone this is chapter 26 do like and comment
The engagement venue glittered under a canopy of golden fairy lights. Strings of marigold swayed with the evening breeze as soft music played in the background. The Malhotras and Singhanias had spared no detail—every corner glowed with warmth.
Kritika, dressed in a stunning nude pink lehenga, stood on the stage beside Karan, whose off-white sherwani complemented her like a mirror reflects a soul.
Shivika stood to the side, carefully adjusting Kritika’s dupatta, making sure no pleat was out of place. She wore a lavender lehenga, her hair adorned with jasmine, and light kohl framing her eyes that avoided one particular face in the crowd.
Siddharth.
He was dressed in a charcoal-grey sherwani, watching the crowd from behind his glass of juice. His gaze lingered on one person only—Shivika.
She hadn’t smiled in his direction once. Not when their eyes met. Not when he offered a gentle nod. Not even when his mother whispered, “Dekha? Tum dono kitne ache lagte ho ek frame mein.”

“Today, I’m nervous. But also? This is what I always wanted,” Kritika whispered to Shivika while hugging her.
Shivika, in her elegant lavender lehenga, smiled and fixed Kritika’s earrings. “You’re the main character tonight.”
“And you?” Kritika asked, knowingly.
Shivika looked away. “I’m just a side character with a backstory no one knows.”
---
“Shivi!” A cheerful voice called from behind her.
Shivika turned, eyebrows raising slightly. “Reyansh?”
Reyansh stood tall, in a bottle-green kurta, camera slung across his shoulder, dimples flashing. He opened his arms dramatically. “Tu itni badal gayi hai! Aur itni pyaari bhi!”
Shivika laughed—a real one—for the first time that night.
Siddharth, watching from a distance, froze.
Reyansh didn’t stop. “Tu waise hi lag rahi hai jaise bachpan mein—jo cricket khelenge toh ball leke bhaag jaaye!”
Shivika playfully hit his shoulder. “You were the worst bowler in our gali.”
“Oh, but you were the prettiest fielder,” he winked.
Siddharth turned to Vibha, muttering, “Who the hell is that guy?”
Vibha raised an eyebrow. “Chill, Mr. Intensity. That’s her cousin from Mumbai. Reyansh. Maasi’s son.”
He blinked. “Cousin?”
“Yeah. Why?”
Siddharth didn’t answer.
Just clenched his jaw and looked away.
---
The host with too much energy took the mic:
“Let’s do a pairing dance! Names from a bowl… total random!”
Tanya grinned. “If I get the hot sherwani guy, I’ll take that as a sign.”
And then—
> “Shivika Malhotra… and Siddharth Singhania!”
Vibha let out a dramatic gasp.
