Hey everyone this is chapter 38 show some love

____

The sangeet night had faded into lights, laughter, and lingering glances.

But the celebration wasn’t over yet.

The youngsters had one final plan before Karan and Kritika’s big day — a late-night pre-wedding party. No aunties. No rituals. No responsibilities. Just music, mischief, and memories.

And this time?

It wasn’t lehengas and sherwanis.

It was leather jackets. Heels. Bodycon dresses. Smokey eyes and gelled hair.

It was the unofficial last night of freedom.

___

The fairy lights lining Shivika’s vanity glowed softly, casting gold halos over everything they touched. But even their warm light couldn’t outshine the woman in the mirror tonight.

Black. Fitted. Bold.

Her mini bodycon dress hugged her like a second skin, stopping just above her knees, sleeveless and square-necked. Her collarbones gleamed with a hint of shimmer. Her long hair fell in sleek waves down her back, parted on the side. And her heels—tall, strappy, dangerous.

She was fire.

But her eyes?

Still unsure.

Shivika adjusted her earring and sighed. The reflection staring back at her didn’t match the cyclone brewing inside her chest.

> “He didn’t push her away.”
“She was touching him. Laughing with him. He let her.”
“After everything he said to me…”

She reached for her lipstick, then paused.

> “Why does it still bother me?”
“Why do I still care?”
“Why does he still have the power to make me feel… invisible?”

And yet, her memory betrayed her—his hand on her waist during the circle dance. The way he looked at her when she entered the sangeet. The quiet confession under temple bells.

She squeezed her eyes shut.

> “Why did he have to say he loved me?” “Why did I believe him?”

---

Kritika opened the door without knocking—and froze.

“Shivika.”

“What?”

“You look like heartbreak in a dress.”

Shivika rolled her eyes. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“You should. Because you’re going to break some very specific hearts tonight. One in particular.”

“Don’t.”

“I’m just saying,” Kritika smirked. “If Siddharth doesn’t faint when he sees you, I’ll push him off the balcony myself.”

Shivika ignored her. “Let’s go. Everyone’s waiting.”

---

The cars were lined up.

Reyansh, Vibha, Tanya — all dressed to destroy — were taking selfies by the main gate, laughing too loudly. Karan and Siddharth stood by the second car, sipping water, waiting for the ladies.
