Hey everyone this is all for this chapter and I want to complete this story in this month because I've to start a new story so I'll post as fast as possible so do show a lots of love ___

The courtyard of the Malhotra house had transformed into a golden dream.

Marigold strings hung from the terrace edges, draping the pillars like soft tangerine waterfalls. A gentle dhol beat echoed somewhere in the distance, while cousins ran around in yellow kurtas, chasing each other with bowls of haldi.

But Shivika?

Shivika had one mission:

Avoid Siddharth. Avoid getting noticed. And avoid haldi at all costs.

She had chosen a soft mustard yellow kurta with a white net dupatta. Simple. Light. Easy to hide in. Her hair was tied in a low ponytail, and her cheeks already glowed—not from haldi, but from the memory of what she’d said to Siddharth two nights ago.

“I never hated you. Not even when you broke me.”

Every time those words replayed, she wanted to bury herself under the mehndi trays.

“WHY did I say that? Why didn’t I say, ‘Haha, I’m good. Mehndi looks nice’? That would’ve been SAFE.”

She stuck to the edge of the courtyard, holding a glass of water, pretending to be busy talking to one of the elderly aunts.

But her eyes?

They kept flicking to him.

Siddharth stood on the other side — wearing a white kurta with rolled-up sleeves. A yellow stole hung loosely around his neck. His hair slightly ruffled by the wind, he was smiling politely at whatever Vibha was saying.

“Why does he have to look like a walking matrimonial ad?” Shivika muttered under her breath, gulping down her water like it was tequila.

Her heart pounded.

Because the more she looked… the more she knew.

She hadn’t just forgiven him. She still loved him. Even after everything… the feeling hadn’t left.

___

Kritika and Karan sat side by side, laughing . Their clothes were already splashed with streaks of yellow and gold. Vibha was applying haldi to Kritika’s arms, while Tanya painted Karan’s cheek with a heart.

Shivika approached,

On the other side of Karan, Siddharth walked forward,  silent but smiling softly.

He didn’t notice Shivika approaching.

She didn’t notice him coming closer either.

They both bent down — at the exact same time — to apply haldi to the couple.

And their foreheads bumped.

“Ouch!” Shivika hissed.

“Sorry,” Siddharth said immediately, stepping back.

Their eyes met.

The noise around them dimmed for a moment.

And before she could recover — a streak of haldi smeared down her arm. His hand had nudged hers.

They both froze.

Her breath caught. His hand hovered a second too long before pulling away.
