The after morning sun was mellow, casting a warm glow over the Malhotra and Singhania homes. Today, there were no relatives. With them  No chaos. Just close family — and a quiet plan to visit the mandir before the wedding day madness took over again.

Inside her room, Shivika adjusted the pleats of her soft pastel pink saree — the one with tiny pearl embroidery that looked like drops of morning dew. Her hair was tied in a low bun, a few soft strands framing her face. She checked her reflection and sighed.

“Simple. Subtle. And definitely not overthinking anything,” she mumbled, applying a light gloss and looking away quickly from the mirror — as if it had caught her staring too hard at herself.

Across the street, Siddharth pulled on a plain black t-shirt, ruffled his hair once, and shrugged into a denim jacket. No special prep, no fancy outfit. Just him — clean, casual, completely unaware of how unfair it was to look this good with no effort.

---

Downstairs, Karan waited by the car, tapping his phone impatiently while Kritika fixed the bangles on her wrists.

“Don’t tell me Siddharth’s going to make us late again,” Kritika rolled her eyes.

“He’s not,” Karan said. “Because guess what? Today he’s riding with his past, present, and maybe future.”

Kritika grinned. “Shivika?”

“Yup. Same car.”

“Kya baat hai. Universe bhi chah raha hai yeh dono kuch samjhein.”

---

Shivika sat in the front passenger seat, pretending to scroll through her phone, even though the screen was black. She didn’t dare glance sideways.

Siddharth got in next to her, adjusted his seat, and gave a small nod. “hi”

“Hi,” she replied barely audible

Silence.

They started the ride. Karan and Kritika sat behind — whispering and giggling far too loudly to be called subtle.

“Remember that summer trip to Manali?” Kritika began.

Karan grinned. “Of course. The one where someone got a fever after dancing in the rain?”

“Oh my god,” Kritika laughed. “And Siddharth carried her all the way to the hotel—”

“Diii !” Shivika hissed, her eyes widening.

Karan leaned in. “We’re just saying… that was the start of his lifting addiction.”

Siddharth chuckled under his breath.

Shivika, already hiding her face, literally slouched into the seat, pulling the seatbelt up like a curtain.

“I want to disappear,” she muttered.

Siddharth glanced at her from the corner of his eye, lips twitching with amusement.

"She still reacts the same. Still folds into herself when embarrassed. Still ridiculously cute."

---

The car pulled up near the temple steps. Karan and Kritika got off first.

“We’ll wait near the entrance,” Kritika said, smirking. “Take your time… lovers.”
