Shivika’s Room – 11:58 PM

The room was dim, lit only by fairy lights coiled around her window frame and the soft glow from her night lamp. Pillows were tossed everywhere. A half-eaten pack of Perk had died valiantly by the bedside. Shivika's Bluetooth speaker was playing lo-fi beats, but neither of them were paying attention.

Siddharth lay on his side across the bed, blanket half-draped over his legs, holding a packet of Munch like it was sacred treasure. His other hand was dramatically fanning a deck of UNO cards like he was in Kaun Banega Cardpati.

Shivika, meanwhile, sat like a queen on the other side, legs criss-crossed, popcorn bowl on one knee, her other hand full of cards and pure vengeance.

“Wild card!” she shrieked. “Now draw four, loser!”

Siddharth dropped his head onto the pillow with a dramatic groan.

“This is emotional warfare. I'm calling UNO Child Protection Services.”

Shivika: “You're 25. There is no UNO Child Services.”

Siddharth waved the Munch bar like a white flag.

“There should be. Because clearly I'm being bullied.”

She leaned forward, flashing the +4 with glee.

“You should’ve thought of that before placing a reverse card like some Bond villain.”

He narrowed his eyes. “Okay, but who starts a game by playing a +4? That's not strategic. That's savage.”

Shivika gave a fake gasp. “Strategy and savagery are sisters, sweetheart.”

He flicked a popcorn kernel at her. “Then you’re the CEO of savage.”

She dramatically caught it mid-air like a ninja.

“And you’re the intern of losing.”

He glared. “This is not flirting.”

She smirked. “Wasn’t trying. I flirt only after I crush you.”

Siddharth placed a hand over his heart. “I’m hurt. Deeply. Mortally.”

She grabbed another card. “Skip.”

His jaw dropped. “Again?! Why do I keep dating women who play skip cards like wedding invitations?!”

She arched an eyebrow. “Excuse me—women? Plural?”

“…I meant hypothetical past lives.”

Shivika narrowed her eyes. “Thought so.”

---

They continued playing for five more rounds. The pile in Siddharth’s hand grew like a tragic mountain. Shivika’s pile barely touched five.

Siddharth picked another card and stared.

“WHAT?! ANOTHER +2?! This game is rigged.”

Shivika casually reached for more popcorn.

“The deck loves me. You should too.”
