Chapter 3|Some friend

After leaving Dominic's house I headed to my office to tie some loose ends. I gathered all the evidence that Sam and Monica had and make one hell of a defense case. The evidence they had on him was irrelevant actually and by them taking it to court will make the judge look lousy. 

"Thanks you guys for all the help, I owe you." I said giving them a hug. I wanted to do something with them and my girls. It was a weekday and we couldn't go out. "How about you guys come to my house at 10 tonight. Dress comfy I'm going to throw us a little movie night. You guys can bring a friend." I said while walking them out of my office and locking up. We've been working since this morning and it was 7:30. I just wanted to chill and have a talk with my friends.

"Monica its ok to open up tonight, we are not working so get comfy." I said, while pushing her shoulder a little bit. Monica locked the main door and we all left. I called up Amber and Shaniya and told them to come over. 30 minutes later I was home. I took a nice long bath and put on some pajama shorts with a cute tank top. I curled my hair and let it hang. 

I went into the kitchen and made my famous chicken and shrimp alfredo. It was just turning 9:40 and I know they would be here any minute. I also had us some red wine, dinner rolls, and some brownies. I set up my kitchen table with the bar stools and put some movies out in the living room. I also pulled out some blankets and pillows. 

*Ding dong* 

I continued stirring my food and went to the door. "Hey babies," I said as Amber, Shaniya, Monica, and some girl walked through the door." 

"Hi, Serena this is Anika. She's the assistant nurse at baptist. We've been bestfrirends for years." Monica said smiling. I grabbed her hand and said, "Hello Anika, This is my home and these are my bestfriends Amber and Shaniya." I said, "Come to the kitchen we have two more guests coming through." 

"Ummm, who?" Shaniya said as she poured herself a glass of wine. I snatched it from her and filled everyone's cup up. "Sam and whatever friend he's bringing." I said. 

"Your talking about the pimp?" We all busted out laughing because it was the truth. Moments later we heard knocking at the door. 

"Hey Sam", I said, "And... This is?" I said referring to the blonde white girl that I've never seen before." 

"Hi, My name is Ashley, Sam's bestfriend." She said

"I'm Serena and welcome to my home." I said. I led them to the kitchen where everyone else was. I introduced everybody and we went on with the night. We all ate and drank our wine and talked about everything. I took my brownies out and put them on a plate. Everybody was done eating so we all went to the living room and started watching movies. 

"I did bring something for everybody." Sam said as he opened up a nice bottle of champaign. Everybody screamed and he came around to fill everyone's cup up. After the movie everybody was a little tipsy. I went into the kitchen and got my favorite bottle of Moscato. 

"So Serena, I hear that your taking over a big drug dealer's case. They claim he's going to get off. You won't let that happen will you?" Shaniya said. I looked at her and said,"Well Shaniya you of all people should know that I can't talk about my cases.Besides if a guy is innocent then why take away his freedom" I said starring her dead in her eyes. "Oh, I see Ms. Carter here has the hots for this man" She said. She was right, I did find him attractive. 

"Excuse me?" I asked pretty much confused on why she was on my ass about Dominic. 

"You heard me, your attracted to this man, at least thats what I hear." She said while taking a drink of her liquor. 

"Give me that, I think you had a little too much." Amber said, trying to take her drink away.

"No Amber, Its ok. Let her finish, so i can get in her ass." I said putting my drink down.

"Word on my block is, your getting him off those murder charges and whatever else against him. You like the fact that he's all business but he's a thug. You try to control yourself by playing hard to get. But you do want him. Be honest Serena." She said.

"It's time for us to leave. Sam said as he gathered his things and left. "Me too, I'll see you tomorrow in the office, thanks for everything." Monica Said. 

"What is your problem Shaniya? Why bust me out like that?" I said getting in her face. I was heated. on top of that how did she know those things? 

"Just answer my question. Are you attracted to Dominic?" She said, standing in my face. m

"Yes, I am attracted to him, what woman wouldn't be? He's handsome, he can be that thug type but he knows when to put that suit on." I said while cleaning up the living room. I walked in the kitchen and put everything in the sink. "But that doesn't mean I want to be with him." I said being honest. 

"Thats all I asked Bitch, I know you." Shaniya said. I gave her an evil look because I was embarrassed. I looked over at Amber and shook my head.

"Shaniya why? Why did you do that?" I asked her. Sde looked at me and rolled her eyes. I got in her face and yelled, "Answer me dammit." She looked me up and down and said, "Because, we all friends right? I just wanted to know the truth, I hear up and down my block that your catching some feelings for a nigga that ain't shit but a thug. I don't want that for you Serena." She said catching my attention  a little. 

"Well next time, pull me aside and talk to me. That's personal. Your my bestfriend, they don't know me outside of work Shaniya!" I said yelling at her. She looked at me and said, "Don't yell at me like I'm your child or one of the people that works under you!" She said. I pushed her and said, "Maybe you need to stop drinking, that's when you show your ass like a child. You start to act like a child, then I'm going to treat you like a fucking child." I said as I took the glass away from her.

"Bitch." She said, as she slapped me in my face and grabbed my hair. I put the glass down and punched her in her face. We were going at it like we couldn't stand each other. We both fell on the ground and she ended up on top of me. I flipped her over and grabbed her hair in one hand and was hitting her with my other. 

"Get the fuck off me bitch." She said while hitting me. Shaniya then rolled over and got on top of me and hit me one good time in my mouth. I tasted blood, I went in on her. Amber stood back and let us release our anger on each other. I stood up off the ground and felt my lip. I hit Shaniya one more time and walked off to my room. 

Shaniya got off the floor and said, "Your a dumb bitch. He's using you to get off and he's not telling the truth. Your too blind by his looks to see that! He killed those people for money, if he doesn't go to jail they will kill you dumb bitch." She then grabbed her things and left. Amber was shocked and she just cleaned everything up and went to talk to Serena.

"Hey, are you ok?" Amber asked while handing her a towel and some ice.

"I can't believe that just happened. We are suppose to be friends. My temper and hers doesn't mix but damn. I fought her like she was a bitch I hated in the streets." I said while looking in the mirror. 

"Did you not hear what Shaniya said? She's looking out for you girl. She said if he doesn't go to jail then they will kill you Serena." Amber said looking me in my eyes. I put my head down and said, "What's wrong with doing my job A? What do I do?" I said.

"Find him another lawyer. Make sure he loses the case and you'll be safe." Amber said while giving me a hug.
