Chapter 4|Dominic

After the incident at my house , I kept my distance away from everybody. I only took business calls and I was never in my office.

 Two weeks went past and I was in my house. Amber and the people at my office blew me up. I was so focused on the case for Dominic I forgot about all my other clients that I also had to tend to. I was also thinking about what Shaniya told me. Something told me to reach out to her because she knew something I didn't. I hoped in the shower and put some clothes on . I grabbed my purse and car keys and went to open the door.
"Hey", Shaniya said. I smiled and gave her a big hug. We apologized for everything and had a drink.
"I'm glad you came over Shaniya." I said.
"Me too , plus I had something to tell you. Maybe it'll help." She said. I knew I wasn't suppose to share any information with anybody but I let her read everything I had on Dominic.
"Wow, ok he's in deep but most likely you'll win because they really don't have anything. What I had to tell you was, It was a source in the street that said you were to be killed before trial. I don't know who, where, and what time Serena. I think you should stay low , maybe even get the police involved."
*Ding Dong*
We both looked at the door and looked at each Other. Shaniya grabbed her purse and got her gun, I went into the kitchen to get a Taser and my pepper spray.
"Who is it?", Shaniya said looking through the peep hole. It was pitched black outside so she couldn't see who. "Where you expecting someone?", Shaniya said looking at me like she about to spazz out.
"No, I haven't talked to anyone", I said. I looked through the window and seen two males on the porch. "I don't know these men", I said about to cry.
"Look you go in the room and call this number." Shaniya then gave me her phone, I looked at her like she was crazy because she was about to shoot some shit up.
"No, I'm not leaving you", she took the phone and held a conversation with the guy for 2 minutes. I was scared and wanted to call police.
*Ding Dong*
*Knock Knock*
They did that for about 5 minutes. Shaniya began loading her gun, I felt weak as hell with this pepper spray.
The door knob was moving and me and Shaniya went to the other room, we left one light on in the house and that was the living room. "Don't go to the windows, my friends finna slide through on these niggas"

I screamed and was about to get up when Shaniya brought me back down. I scooted to a corner and pulled my knees to my chest. Then the front door was kicked in. All I heard was Shaniya Cock her pistol and began firing her gun. I took my knife and stabbed one in the leg, he hit me in my face and Shaniya shot him in the other leg.
Get some tape and a rope. We gone tie his ass up and get some answers.
"Bae? Baby ?Shaniya", I heard a male voice say. It was her boyfriend Rhonny.
"I'm ok, I need some answers though." She said with a smirk.
I found some duct tape and put done on this man's wrist. Shaniya hit him over the head with a vase so he was knocked out. We tied him to a chair and put him in the hall closet.
"Y'all knew them niggas ", Rhonny said as he cleaned up the glass from the vase. "No, I said softly. My jaw was hurting so I went to get an ice pack. I went to the bathroom and looked at my face. The whole left side was swollen and red. I cried and starred in the mirror. I then called Amber over to tell her about everything. Shaniya and Rhonny were downstairs cleaning up. Somebody was knocking on the door and I heard Shaniya say she's in the bathroom.
I was sitting on the counter and was wiping the blood off of my lip.
"Serena", a male voice said. I looked up and it was Dominic. I rolled my eyes and said, "Why are you here?".
"It's my fault you ended up like this Serena." He said. "Your right, your gonna have to find someone else to do your case, I can't deal with this shit. I've never really had any Drama in my life, and I don't need it" I said getting off the counter and going in my room. He followed me and said, "I apologize for putting you in a situation like this, it's just a misunderstanding between the people. The people that's after me is the family of the girl the got killed. They think it was me. They are looking for justice. They taste blood , anybody that gets in the way they are gonna take out." Dominic said looking me in my eyes.
"I don't want to be in the middle of this bs, I'm just doing my job." I said.
"Can you consider still taking my case? I know you have things lined up." Dominic said. I was looking in his beautiful eyes and couldn't help but smile. "Yes Dominic, I will." I said .
He gave me a hug and kissed my cheek, I blushed and told him to come to my office tomorrow.
"Your gonna be okay here alone? Even with the door like this?" Shaniya said.
"Yea I will be. I have something until I can get someone here in he morning to fix the bolts. Thanks for everything Shaniya." I said giving her a hug and locking the door.
I made sure my doors and windows were locked. I then got in the shower and went straight To bed.

The next morning I got up and got in the shower, brushed my teeth and straighten my hair. Called in a favor to a friend that had his own cleaning and carpenter service to come fix up my house, I  went to the office and put all papers on my desk. I beat everybody there so I can prepare myself for whatever questions they throw at me. I went and bought everybody their favorite coffee and treats. Today was going to be a long day in the office and I wanted everyone on their A game. It was 8am and Monica and Sam walked in my office. 

"Hi Ms. Carter. Your back to yourself and I'm happy to see you." Monica said coming to give me a hug. I hugged her back and handed her a coffee. "Hey Serena baby, your gorgeous." Sam said as he kissed my cheek. I handed him his coffee also. "Thanks." They said in unison. 

"Monica what you can do for me right now is send this email too all my clients. I put it on your desk, its an apology letter". She smiled and did what I asked. "Sam, today is going to be a good day, but I have a lot of work to do. I would like you to come up with good, tough questions for me." I said and gave him a wink. He smiled and began to write. I started making notes and put all the evidence in order. I then began to search things on Dominic again. I have to know my client in order to take up for him in court. Trial was 3 weeks away, I was slacking for a while, but I am ready. 

Hours past by and we had everything ready, now all we needed was a witness. One was dead and the other one wanted to kill Dominic. It was 10:25am and I told Dominic to come by this morning. "Hey, you have a letter." Monica said, handing me a small envelope. 

It read:

"Hi Serena, I'm a friend of the girl that Dominic was accused of killing. I have valuable information that could help. I would like to come by the office to speak to you. I have pictures and text messages that could help you. I know Dominic is innocent. I was told that if I were caught telling anyone this information, I would be killed. But I know my friend wouldn't like this. So I will come by at 5:00p.m. Please don't tell anyone about this."

I smiled and put the letter in my desk. Monica came in and said, "A man dropped it off, they told me that it could help." She said smiling at me. 

*Ring Ring*

me-Hello?

Male voice - Hey its Dominic, could I come by earlier since I'm on this side already?

Me - Sure. I'll tell Monica.

Dominic - See you later Serena

Me- Uhhhh, Yea Dominic.

"You can go to lunch Monica when Dominic gets here." I said

"Yes Ma'am. She smiled and winked at me. I laughed and said, "Its not like that." and played my smirk off. 

15 minutes later Dominic arrived and Monica left. I locked the door behind her. Dominic smiled and sat down in the chair in front of my desk. 

"So we have a witness, hopefully she's willing to testify on your behalf. We have three weeks Dominic. Are you ready?" I said looking him in his eyes.

"Baby girl, I was born ready. I have nothing to hide, I'm ready Ms. Carter." He said then he got out of his chair and said, "You know, your a strong woman Ms. Carter. Your smart and your beautiful." He said while looking at me with a sexy smile. 

"Well Thanks Sir, but I don't mix business with pleasure. So whatever thoughts are running through your head, I suggest you get rid of them." I said while sitting in my chair and folding my arms. He starred at me and continued to smile. "Anyways, you are ok and I'm going to try my hardest--"

"Serena, I want you. I can't resist you any longer. I've been trying to fall back but its hard. Your so attractive girl." He said cutting me off and walking towards my chair. He got on his knees and held my hand. He starred in my eyes and said, "I want you to be my girl, I know I'm a street nigga but I'm a business man first but I also know your feeling me. I can tell by the way you change your gesture when I walk in here." I was speechless, I looked him up and down and was smiling hard as hell.

"Dominic, I can't be with you. I'm sorry. I don't date my clients." I said. I can tell he was getting upset with me but I couldn't risk everything for him. 

"Ok", was all he said. I can tell I struck a nerve. He got up and left without even looking back.
