"What do you want?" I asked Dominic as he was approaching my car. He looked at me nervously and stopped me from opening my door.
"Can we talk? Please?" He said . I looked in his eyes and asked him to move. He didn't listen so I just stood there. "Dominic you have five minutes.""Serena, be an adult here. We haven't talked in six long months. Then I see you here and I let my emotions take the best of me. I apologize for how I acted in there." He said and I started the ignition and drove off, leaving him dumb founded. I didn't give a fuck, all this time and now you're trying to talk to me. No sir, it doesn't happen like that. You're not going to come into my life and then leave whenever you want to.
I went home and thanked and payed Sam. Checking on the girls I tucked them in and went to bed myself.*the next morning*
I woke up girls for school and made them breakfast. I then jumped in the shower and got ready for work.
"Come on, your gonna be late for school." I yelled
I was still pissed from last night but I couldn't take it out on them. After dropping them off at school, I headed towards the coffee shop and then to my office.
"Goodmorning Serena, you have someone here. No appointment but she's the case worker for the girls." Monica said. I rolled my eyes and told her to send her in.
"Hello, Ms. Carter." Mrs. Flowers said. I gave her a weak smile because I didn't care for her presence.
"Well let's make this quick, I know your a busy women." She said.
"Yes, I am. What can I do for you Mrs. Flowers?"
"Well this is regarding the girls I put in your care six months ago. We found some relatives and we have spoken to them. Their grandparents have been looking for them and wants to take custody of them."
She said, while pulling out some pictures and some paperwork. I looked at her like she was stupid.
"All this time and their grandparents just now want to take custody? Kind of shady don't you think?" I said. She let out a chuckle and I was becoming irritated.
"Your just a lawyer, they are not your children, you only had temporary custody." She said.
"That's not the point. You know how hard it's been for these girls, and they are finally happy and now you just wanna switch it up." I said and she could tell I was getting upset.
"You attached yourself to these kids. But it's not your call. Your not even family---
"Don't you dare, I cared for them like they were my own. I'm raising them, I'm the reason they aren't strung out on the streets like their dad. You damn right I am attached to them." I said standing up. She looked at me.
"We already have our minds made up, I'll be at your home tomorrow morning to collect them and there things. Have a nice day." She said as she got her things and walked out.
I sat in my chair pissed off and put my head in my hands. I started to genuinely care for these girls. I care about their futures. Nobody could see that and now they are being ripped out of my life
