The morning light filtered through the hospital window like liquid gold, catching the mischievous sparkle in Junkyu's eyes as he watched JeongWoo checking work documents on his tablet with the focused intensity of someone studying for the world's most important exam.
"Woo," Junkyu said suddenly, his voice carrying that particular musical quality that meant he was about to ask for something delightfully unreasonable.
JeongWoo looked up from the tablet, already sensing adventure in the way Junkyu's fingers drummed against his rounded belly like he was composing a symphony. "What is it, Sugar?"
"I want ice cream." The words tumbled out like a child's birthday wish, simple and direct, but sparkling with such genuine longing that JeongWoo felt his heart do a little flip.
JeongWoo's eyebrows shot up, his expression shifting into what Junkyu had lovingly dubbed his 'responsible alpha' mode. "No. Absolutely not. You know what the doctor said about cold foods and your condition."
"But I'm craving it so badly," Junkyu said, his voice taking on a honeyed quality as he tilted his head just so, the morning light catching the soft curve of his cheek despite the oxygen tube pressing on it. "Just a little bit? Please?"
"Junkyu." JeongWoo's voice was firm, but there was an underlying tremor of barely-contained affection. "Your body is already working overtime to keep you and the pups healthy. Cold foods could shock your system."
Junkyu's lower lip pushed out in a pout that was both calculated and utterly endearing, the kind of expression that belonged in a renaissance painting titled 'The Art of Getting Your Way.' "It's just ice cream, Woo. Not poison."
"To your system right now, it might as well be." JeongWoo stood up, as if putting physical distance between them would make it easier to resist those impossibly soft eyes. "The answer is no."
But Junkyu wasn't finished with his masterpiece of persuasion. He shifted in the bed, one hand dramatically placed over his heart while the other cradled his belly, his oxygen tube slightly askew because of the movement. "You know, the pups have been so restless lately. But just now, when I mentioned ice cream, they went completely still. I think they're listening, Woo. They want ice cream too."
JeongWoo turned back, his resolve visibly wavering. "That's... that's probably just a coincidence."
"Is it though?" Junkyu's eyes sparkled with mischief as he rubbed gentle circles on his stomach. "I mean, they're half yours, so they obviously inherited your sweet tooth. Remember how you demolished that entire chocolate cake four months ago?"
"That was different," JeongWoo protested weakly, but the corner of his mouth twitched upward at the memory.
"Was it?" Junkyu continued, his voice taking on the persuasive quality of a master negotiator. "I'm just saying, if you deny your own children ice cream before they're even born, they might hold a grudge. Do you really want to start parenthood with three tiny rebels on your hands?"
JeongWoo stared at his omega, caught between exasperation and adoration. "You're impossible."
"I'm pregnant," Junkyu corrected with a grin that could have powered the entire hospital. "It's different. And much more effective."
The silence stretched between them, filled with tension. Then Junkyu deployed his secret weapon—the eyes. Not just any eyes, but the soft, melting look that always make JeongWoo wanted to fall on his knees.
"Please, alpha?" Junkyu's voice was barely above a whisper, but it carried the weight of love and longing and just a hint of playful manipulation. "I promise I'll eat it slowly. And if I feel even slightly off, I'll stop immediately. I just... I really, really want ice cream."
