"Is it really impossible for you to skip this meeting?" Junkyu asked, watching JeongWoo's fingers work on his cufflinks. "What about attending online like you did the other day?"

Junkyu had thought he was okay after JeongWoo's promise last night, but after the alpha disappeared again at dawn, his bad feeling got worse. That strange scent was stronger when he came back—so bitter that Junkyu could barely pretend to be asleep. At least this time, for whatever reason, JeongWoo went straight to shower instead of climbing back into bed.

JeongWoo walked to his open luggage. "There's no option for online attendance, Sugar." He returned with a tie in his hand, sat on the bed, and handed it to Junkyu. "If you're worried something's going to happen to me during this trip, don't be. Jihoon and Rose will be in that meeting with me. You know what that means, right?"

Junkyu sighed, taking the black tie. "Triple the security guards to protect all three of you." He looped the tie over JeongWoo's collar, his voice quiet.

There was no doubt security would be at maximum when all three Parks traveled together. Whether flying, driving, or sailing, every transportation method would be thoroughly inspected multiple times. Junkyu had experienced it himself during their vacation—the convoy of cars to the airport, the army of bodyguards JeongWoo brought to the island. And that was just one Park heir traveling, not all three.

JeongWoo chuckled at Junkyu's pouting lips. The omega looked reluctant to let him go, yet he was still carefully tying his tie like always.

"I'll be back before you know it, Sugar." JeongWoo said. He wasn't sure when or in what condition, but he would definitely return. "You'll have fun with your mom today. You won't even realize I'm gone. Right, mom?"

Hyo Jun, who had been trying not to interfere with the couple's conversation, looked up from his magazine. He hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but it was hard to avoid in the same room. "Yes, sweetheart. We'll talk all day, and you can teach me how to make those plushies." He pointed at the countless wolf plushies Junkyu had created during his hospital stay.

Junkyu managed a smile. He was happy to spend the whole day with just his mom without JeongWoo turning every bit of affection into a competition, but he'd still prefer the alpha to be there with him. Just as it seemed the universe wouldn't give Junkyu another chance to convince his mate, JeongWoo's phone rang. The alpha grabbed it from the bedside table and answered quickly.

"Yeah, I'm about to leave now. See you there." After a brief pause to listen, he hung up and slipped the phone into his pocket. "That was Rose, reminding me to be on time."

Junkyu's face fell as he looked down at his belly, arms wrapping around it protectively. His mate was really leaving.

JeongWoo sighed internally, cupping Junkyu's face to make him look up. "Come on, Sugar. I need to see your smile before I go." His voice was sincere. He truly needed Junkyu's smile for strength. "Please?"

"Promise me again that you're coming back exactly as you are when you leave this room," Junkyu said, determined. He still couldn't shake his bad feeling. "Promise you'll walk through that door on your own two feet, smile at me, hug me, and call me 'Sugar' with your own voice."

In short, Junkyu wanted JeongWoo to return unharmed, and the alpha didn't know what to make of it. It was as if Junkyu knew this wasn't a regular meeting, as if he sensed the danger ahead. Maybe it was coincidence, or maybe it was his instincts as JeongWoo's fated mate.

JeongWoo wasn't the type to make promises he couldn't keep. "I promise I'll come back, Sugar." That was as far as he could go. He leaned down, placing his hands on Junkyu's bump. "You three better behave, okay? Don't give mommy any trouble. If you're craving something, wait until daddy gets back so mommy doesn't have to suffer. Deal?"
