Supper was superb, and you did end up slipping Molly a few pieces of meat. Tibbs had enough on his plate, he wasn't even done by the time everyone else was. You had sat between Steve and your brother, while Emily and Bucky took the seats across from you. Your mom and dad took the ends of the table, seeming pleased to have everyone in the house.
"Do you want to go for a walk, Bucky?" Emily asked him sweetly and he looked over the moon at the idea.
"I can't yet, I need to do the dishes" he shook his head. "Come on, punk."
"Hold your horses boys," your mom Franny said. "It's Eric's turn to do dishes, but you can help him if you want to."

"Yes, ma'am," Steve nodded and got up to help Bucky get started while Eric cleared the table.
"I can help, it'll go faster" you offered.
"I don't think so, you can sit and wait, princess," your dad replied quickly.
"Dad, you can't have me sitting around all weekend" you pouted.
"I won't, you'll go for walks and see your favorite animals" he chuckled. "You need to take care of your body for the next while, and I'm guessing your lower back is killing you most of the time."
"Fair point" you gave in and your mom smiled at you.
"He still knows you better than you think. Always mommy and daddy's little girl" she grinned. "He's worried about you and Steve moving too fast, but I can see you're moving at your own pace. I'll talk to him later" your mom said in your mind.

"Mama, I love him more than words can say... since day one I wanted him, and he wanted me. I think it's fate" you said to her.
"Fate?" your brother said out loud.
"Stay outta my head, dork" you glared at him but he was grinning ear to ear.
"Do you want dad to know what you did last night?" Eric asked and your face went bright red.
"I don't want to hear it" your dad, Luke, shook his head. "I already know enough by the hickey on her collar bone."
"You weren't supposed to see that" you flushed.
"I know, but you notice all the little things when you see your little girl coming towards you for the first time in months" your dad grinned. "I hope you're not wearing that dress to go out to see the animals," he added.
"Go upstairs to your room, I left some of my old maternity dresses that have seen better days in your closet" your mom prompted and you picked up Molly and nodded.
"Thank you" you said, and stopped to give her a kiss on the cheek and your dad a kiss on top of his head. Tibbs started making a racket and followed you up the steps, leaving everyone else in the dining room/kitchen area.

When you got upstairs you picked out one of your moms dresses that was printed with little white flowers and a light blue background and put it on. You saw your luggage was in the room, and both Molly and Tibbs were resting on the queen sized bed. You took a moment, walking in your bare feet, bra and panties, to put everything away. You used the dresser for a majority of the things, and added sticky notes to the outside of the drawers so Steve wouldn't have to ask where his things were. You left the bathroom items on top of your already cluttered dresser with awards and accolades from when you were in school, including, but not limited to bull riding when you were younger. You could tell Steve had already seen that one since it had been moved. Your mom likely wouldn't do anything more than dusting and changing the sheets while you were gone. You finally put on the dress and pulled out your old tan cowboy boots to add to it. The sun was starting to set, and it was the perfect time for a walk. You just wanted to go see the animals if you were going to be honest with yourself. Maybe tomorrow you would take Steve for a drive to see the potato fields and canola fields.
You headed back downstairs and Steve looked like he just sat down with a cup of tea, the dishes completed and he looked awe struck.
"Please tell me you have a hat to go with that" he said, his eyes darkening.
"I don't need that visual," Eric complained.
"I do have a hat," you giggled. "Stay out of his head!" you swatted Eric across the back of his head lightly.
"Your dad was just telling us about the new pups that have been added to the farm. Someone abandoned them just outside the end of the driveway" Emily explained.
"And Steve was telling us that you'll probably bring one home too" your mom grinned.
"Why are they outside still?! Those poor little things" you headed out the back door without another word. The room went quiet for a moment and Eric cleared his throat.
"Told ya, she's got a bleeding heart" Eric said.
"I better follow her" Steve got up and headed to follow you.

Steve found you outside the back door, about a hundred feet away walking into an old barn where he could hear animals making noises. You opened the doors and squeezed in before shutting them behind yourself. He hummed to himself, and figured he could do with bringing a dog home too. He jogged up to the door and slipped in behind you to find you down in the hay playing with puppies that were a cross between a border collie and a golden retriever. They had golden fur, but the border collie build. They looked like they were maybe eight weeks old, and having the time of their lives. One little female broke off from the rest and came to Steve and sat down at his feet, barking for pets. He chuckled and picked her up.
"Oh, you've been chosen" you teased, looking at him and your eyes were sparkling. There were plenty of animals in the barn waiting for attention and maybe a little extra snack before bedtime. "What's her name?" you asked him.
"Hmm... Liberty. But Libby for short" Steve said off the top of his head, and picked her up.
"She's coming home with us," you said resolutely.
"We need to get her shots before we even think about it" Steve sighed, but already knew you were right. One look into those big brown eyes and he was a goner all over again. He cuddled Libby to him and brought her over to where you were with the other four in the litter.
"We know a vet that does weekend calls" you shrugged easily.
"I figured you would" he looked around the barn at the various animals that were there. There were horses and cows in paddocks, several cats and kittens, there was even a donkey to his surprise. There were a few older dogs that were watching the puppies carefully, like they were their charge. You took a piece of string off one of the hay bales and got up off the ground and came to Steve. You tied the piece of string around Libby's neck loosely and kissed the tip of her nose.
"Hello Libby" you cooed.
"You know, I always found the office girl side of you very attractive, but seeing you like this in the country... does things to a man" Steve looked you up and down. "That maternity dress suits you.."
"I might ask mom if I can borrow it and take it home. It's comfy" you admitted.
"I'm sure she won't mind," he grinned, kissing you on the forehead.
"So this does something for you, eh?" you asked, letting your Canadian shine through.
"Yes ma'am" he nodded vigorously. "I suddenly wish we were at home, or a hotel for the night" he winked.
"No sir, it's a dry weekend. You can handle two nights" you giggled.
"I'm pretty sure no one would hold it against us for a small romp in the hay" he wiggled his eyebrows which made you laugh.
"Three mind readers in the house, and you wanna chance it?" you lifted your eyebrows.
"Well, there's one out here, that makes four" he kissed you softly on the lips. "Go in my head dove."
You opened your mind and saw how much he wanted you in that moment and flushed. You leaned up and kissed him softly on the lips. He started imagining you laying back in the hay with your dress riding up and you blushed even more, unable to speak for the moment.
"Be careful what you wish for, Captain" you hummed to him. You closed your mind and sat up on a hay bale, while the puppies tried to climb up towards you. You giggled and helped each of them up for a cuddle. "I noticed you haven't been checking your phone" you pointed out.
"Whats the point of a vacation if I don't relax a little?" he asked.
"Good point" you gave a light laugh. "If I'm going to be honest, I haven't checked mine either" you admitted. "I might later to read before bed."
"So, you were a bull rider?" he asked as he sat down beside you.
"In my teenage years, yes" you batted your eyes at him. "How do you think I managed to stay on top of you last night?"
"I was guessing your powers" he barked a laugh.
"Nope, that was good old training and muscle memory," you giggled.
"I'll have to keep you in shape for that later" he winked and you flushed.
"Just not here" you reminded him. "And no breaking the bed again" you added.
"I'll do my best" he promised.
He stayed seated while you got up and went to see each and every single animal there was in the barn. He even saw you get up in the hayloft to see some more of the newly born kittens. When you came down, you had straw in your hair, and he thought you still looked beautiful. He waited you out and you came to him and he carried Libby with him into the now dark house, and the pair of you snuck up the stairs. Molly and Tibbs were already on the bed when you walked in and Tibbs went up and took what would be Steve's pillow. You both undressed and slipped into bed with Steve spooning you, and Libby at the end of the bed. She slowly made her way up and curled up behind Steve's legs. You had wanted to read before bed, but you were exhausted from the entire day and only had a few sweet words left for Steve.
"I love you Captain" you murmured as sleep started to overtake you.
"I love you too, Y/N" he kissed the back of your neck while Tibbs purred on his pillow behind him and Molly laid on your side. He couldn't think of a more perfect moment.
