After breakfast, you made your way back to the office and started on your work. Steve had followed you in and gave you a soul searing kiss that made your toes curl in front of both Bruce and Tony, before he headed out. He had a wicked grin on his face as he backed out of the room.
"You started early, but logged out after an hour and a half" Tony said, conversationally once Steve was gone.
"Steve and Bucky came in to get me. Mainly Steve. He wants me to start at nine instead" you frowned. "But there's so much data, I just can't see it being enough time" you pouted.
"If anyone is going to figure it out, it's you two" Tony sighed. "But to give my own input from being in a relationship for so long... stay in bed and get the extra sleep. They are more forgiving if you have to work late if they wake up beside you" he winked.
"I like your thinking" you brightened up.
"My gingersnap gets upset if I'm out of bed and in the lab before she gets a good morning kiss" Bruce admitted.
"So are you two married, or engaged?" you finally asked and he chuckled.
"Married. We had a small and secret ceremony a few years ago. She's my rock. She doesn't wear her ring when she's in the field, but she gets me to wear it around my neck until she gets home" he grinned, and pulled out a necklace from under his shirt to show two wedding rings and an engagement ring. "Clint and Laura, his wife, were the only ones at the wedding. It was a crazy time, and so busy. We've been thinking of having a full ceremony with friends and family this time. One that we don't mind the press getting ahold of the photos."
"I think that's amazing. A love so pure like that" you sighed happily.
"You have it too. It's probably too early to talk about marriage, but Steve hasn't really dated much. And definitely never asked someone to move in with him" Bruce said kindly.
"He's never brought any of them home before" Tony chimed in while you were working at your computer.
"I've never wanted any of my boyfriends to meet my family before either" you said softly. "But here I am, wanting him to come meet my folks and my brother... heck, the whole family" you blushed.
"I'm sure he'd love that" Bruce stopped what he was doing to smile at you.
"The only problem is my brother and mother don't have the same compunction I do when it comes to reading minds. If mom thinks you're hiding something she will be in your head faster than you can blink. My brother doesn't bother trying to control himself. He just complains being around a lot of people makes it loud, and avoids the crowds. I've tried telling him to just try to, but he doesn't listen. He says if God gave us a gift, it has to be for a reason" you sighed.
"So your brother would end up telling you who paid off the family debts" Tony put it together.
"With or without me asking, yes" you nodded. Tony and Bruce shared a look and went back to work, and you had to wonder about it. "Was it either of you?" you asked.
"I guess you'll find out in time," Tony said cryptically. You sighed and went back to work, thinking about if you really wanted your brother to visit if he was going to tell you a secret that the entire team seemed to want to keep from you.
You took a quick break for lunch, which was spent most of the time with Steve's spare hand on your lap. He was quick to tell you most of your belongings were already moved upstairs along with the bookshelves and rose bushes. He advised he was just putting everything away now, which made you feel both relieved and badly. You wanted to help put everything away, but you were working. And relieved because you didn't have to worry about doing it when you were finished work for the day.
When it was time for supper everyone was back already, but you were still knee deep in data and couldn't possibly put your computer away until you were done. You didn't want to lose your spot. Tony saved all your work, and shut off all your monitors for you instead. You sighed heavily but knew you should walk away.
"Tony..." you started to argue.
"No working during family time" he said softly. "Besides, Steve has been to the door three times already" he nodded his head to the door where Steve was looking in. You couldn't help but smile and get up from your chair. Steve opened the door and walked in and strode to you like you were his only focus.
"Hey Dove," he wrapped his arms around your middle and he gave you a soft kiss on the lips. He then tucked his head down on your shoulder and breathed in deeply as though he had waited all day for this.
"Hey handsome" you giggled.
"I missed you" he said softly.
"I wasn't that far" you rubbed your hands up and down his back.
"If you aren't in my arms, it's too far" Steve sighed.
"Alright Romeo, time to move it to the dinner table" Tony put his hand in the small of your back, and Steve stepped away only long enough to take your hand and lead you out of the room.
When you got to the table, you were seated between Steve and Bucky. Jillian was there sitting beside Sam, and you waved at her excitedly.
"Hey girl hey" she greeted you.
"Hey mama" you giggled. "I was thinking of getting a trim on my hair. Do you have any open appointments this week?" you asked her.
"Oof, I've been waiting to get my hands on your hair" she grinned. "Friday work okay for you?" she asked.
"You bet, I can't wait," you nodded happily.
"Just a trim, right?" Steve asked worriedly.
"Yes, just a trim" you promised. Steve's hand went to your lap and when food got passed around he added extra portions to your plate for you. Tibbs was being oddly quiet, but he was also face first in his own meal and sitting with Bucky. Small conversation went around the table and before long you were headed upstairs. Jillian slyly texted you that she was spending the night with Sam so she would see you upstairs.
When you got up from the table Steve picked you up and held you close as he went for the stairs. Bucky was close behind him carrying a food comatose Tibbs, and Sam behind him. You squealed when he picked you up, but you were starting to get used to being treated almost like a fragile doll by Steve. At least, outside of the bedroom.
"See you in five" Bucky said to Sam as Steve went into your now shared suite. Bucky was behind Steve, but he paused long enough for you to get a good look. The room was pristine, but there were a lot more book shelves now, your family photos were up on the wall, and some of the things you had kept in your living room, were now in Steve's living room. Even the blanket that you had kept on the back of your couch, was now on the back of his.
"There's nothing left downstairs, I checked it over twice" Steve said softly.
"It looks great" you smiled broadly at him.
"Anything for you" he grinned and kissed you softly on the lips. Tibbs saw his puzzle balls in a neat stack on the floor and started making a racket that he wanted down. Bucky gently set him down and he went fo the puzzles straight away. You giggled, and Steve slowly set you down on your feet.
"Thank you," you whispered. You gave Steve a kiss on the cheek and moved away to look around the room a little more. There was already two wine glasses out and Steve went to the fridge to pull out the bottle of rose wine and he filled them, emptying the bottle.
"We have more already chilling" he told you with a wink, going back to the fridge. He took out a beer and handed it to Bucky who smirked.
"Thanks punk" he nodded and started heading through the suite to the bedroom and out onto the balcony. You grabbed the wine glasses, and Steve grabbed your newest read and followed you.
"How was work?" Steve asked as soon as the three of you were outside.
"Good, there's a lot more to do" you admitted. "I need extra time" you added gently.
"You're working nine to six, you can get it all done during that. I need my alone time" Steve said confidently.
"Baby..." you sighed.
"Tell you what, I'll take him out one night so you can work late" Bucky offered.
"Thank you," you said gratefully. "What do you want in return?" you asked.
"Nothing to be honest. Maybe a favor in the future when it comes to Emily" he grinned.
"Done" you agreed quickly.
Steve went over and set your wine glass down in front of the swing as well as his own, while Bucky sat at the table. Your roses were exactly where he said they would be, and you loved it. It added the right pop of color to the balcony. You went to sit down, but Steve sat down first and pulled you by the hips onto his lap. You giggled and went to move, but you felt him starting to grow under you and you blushed. You stopped squirming and Steve chuckled.
"Smart move" he whispered.
"FYI, I helped him put up more cameras" Bucky told you smoothly.
"Now I want access to the camera feed" you sighed.
"I'll put it on your phone, but you and I are the only ones with access to my suite's cameras" Steve told you quickly. "Not even Bucky," he added.
"I can live with that" you decided. "Does it show things in the past too?" you asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Yes" Steve said hesitantly.
"Is there one in the bedroom?" you asked.
"Three, and two on the balcony" Bucky advised you.
"Interesting" you had an idea in mind, and you were squirming already at how you were going to use that knowledge to your advantage.
