At Kryzel's house in the U.S. during that time...
"Kryzel, I'm going back to the Philippines in a month. Your health is okay now and Kryzette has already left, so you don't have anything to worry about," Kitchie said.
"Sister Kitchie, can I ask a favor? Can you keep looking for John? I just can't rest if I don't know what happened to him," Kryzel said.
"That's exactly what I'm planning to do, but you need to prepare yourself for whatever news comes. Maybe he's dead, or maybe he's already married," Kitchie reminded her.
"I've been preparing myself for a long time. The only thing that matters to me is to know what happened to him," Kryzel replied.
"Umm... if he already has a girlfriend, what would you do?" Kitchie asked.
Kryzel took a long time before answering.
"They're not married yet, so I'll take my chance. It's not against the law if I take him away from his girlfriend, right?" Kryzel answered back.
"It would be better if you just left him alone in that situation. Poor woman. Imagine if John were your boyfriend and then someone else took him away from you. Wouldn't you be angry too?" Kitchie asked.
Kryzel fell silent because she knew Kitchie was right. She knew that if it happened to her, she would be angry as well.
"Just let me know when you arrive there," Kryzel said simply.
Kitchie just nodded and walked away, shaking her head. In her mind, she thought she might do the same if she were in Kryzel's place.
The next morning in the Philippines...
"By the way, sweetheart, I remember when I was in my fifth year in engineering, I had two teenage fans. They were both beautiful. One was almost your age, and the other was still a minor," Marco told Karla as they hugged each other after making love the whole night.
"Where are they now?" Karla asked curiously.
"I haven't heard from them. I don't even remember what they looked like. By the way, where did you work as a waitress?" Marco asked suddenly, trying to change the topic.
Marco worried that Karla might ask more about his past. He didn't want her to worry if she found out about his encounter with the Saturno Drug Syndicate.
"Ah... it was in Caloocan City. I used to go home every week. That restaurant has already closed and was replaced by another business," Karla lied.
Like Marco, who didn't want Karla to discover his past, Karla lied too so Marco wouldn't know the darker part of her life. A while later, Karla's phone rang. It was Kitchie calling.
"Karla! I have good news! I'm coming back to the Philippines! We'll see each other again!" Kitchie said happily.
"Wow! Really? When?" Karla asked with excitement.
"It was supposed to be next month, but I decided to go home next week! I miss you already!" Kitchie said excitedly.
"Okay! My boyfriend and I will pick you up so you can finally meet him!" Karla replied.
"Make sure he's kind and responsible! Better if he's handsome too!" Kitchie joked.
"You'll be surprised when you see him!" Karla laughed.
"Really? I wonder what your boyfriend looks like. You never post his picture on Facebook. He doesn't even have an account," Kitchie said, curious.
"I really don't know why he doesn't want one. He always says it's just a waste of time scrolling through social media every day," Karla explained.
