Many days had passed...
"Don't stop until you find the one who did this to me! That bastard left me with a lifelong disability!" Don Pablo growled at his men.
The feared leader of the Saturno Drug Syndicate lay in a private hideout fully equipped with hospital facilities. He had been rushed there instead of a regular hospital, so the police couldn't trace his location.
"Yes, Don Pablo! We already searched the house of his friends you ordered us to kill. We'll also gather information from anyone who might know the man who attacked you," one of his men replied.
"Do whatever it takes—find out who he is and where he lives!" Don Pablo thundered.
The door suddenly opened and a strikingly beautiful woman strode inside. Every man in the room fell silent, their jaws practically dropping. She was more than just a woman—she was a legend among them. Stunningly gorgeous, yet terrifyingly deadly. She was Mayari, Don Pablo's assassin.
"Boss, I heard what happened last night. I came as fast as I could! What happened?" Mayari demanded.
"Oh, Mayari, it's you," Don Pablo sighed, faking weakness. "I was in a meeting when a group of youngsters nearby caused some trouble. Afterward, their leader pulled out a gun and fired at me without warning. I'm lucky to be alive. Now I'm sending my men to hunt him down."
Don Pablo lied through his teeth, not wanting her to know the full truth.
"Then let me join the search," Mayari said coldly. "I'll bring his head to you myself."
"Not this time, Mayari. Leave it to my men," Don Pablo ordered.
She clenched her jaw but obeyed. "Yes, Boss."
A week later...
"Michelle, still no news from John? I've been calling his phone nonstop! Even his buddies haven't heard from him. Where could he be?" Kryztal asked, her eyes brimming with tears.
"I don't know either," Michelle admitted, worry in her voice. "He just vanished. But the police are already informed. I'm scared too."
"Hmmp.." Kryzette scoffed. "Didn't I tell you? That stupid love affair of yours would only bring you trouble. And now look—you're miserable because of him."
"Shut up, Kryzette!" Kryzel snapped. "Can't you see we're all worried? But you—you're too cold. It's like you don't even know what love is!"
"Enough!" Michelle shouted, her voice shaking the empty room.
The three girls fell silent. They were inside a vacant classroom. It was past six in the evening, and the whole building was deserted.
"Wow, Michelle. You're finally yelling at us," Kryzette mocked with a laugh.
"Forget it. Let's go home. I'll keep looking for news about John," Michelle said firmly.
The three girls left, unaware that a security guard had overheard their quarrel. He smirked as they passed by.
"Crazy girls," he muttered, chuckling as he walked away.
Michelle narrowed her eyes at the man's face before hugging her friends protectively.
The following day, the sisters' father spoke with Michelle. She explained the siblings' worsening health.
"Michelle," Uncle Paul said gravely, "I'm taking my children abroad for treatment. Their condition will only get worse here. You stay. Finish your studies. This time, I'll let the doctors perform full therapy on them."
