chapter 38

"heyyy family" Roxanne waltzed into her room having heard from the butler her dad and brothers were already in there. 

"Oh Roxanne" her dad shot up from his seat on her recliner and engulfed her in a hug. She instantly relaxed as if the tension just flew out of her shoulders. She could feel Loman and Cain shuffling around the two as if waiting for their turn. She disengaged and was grabbed again with slightly more force by Loman. 

"ok ouch" the pain was real but she wouldn't tell unless she absolutely had to. Loman just detangled but still held her by the arms looking up and down as if to assess damage. Luckily she had showered back at Holwen's. 

"You know, next time u run off to one of your mates a text would be nice" Cain spoke up in exasperation. He has been worried, then super pissed and then finally relieved. They didn't get as big as they did in the business world without making significant enemies in the field and beyond. It was impossible for him to stay mad at Roxanne, even when she finishes his favourite coffee and does not refill it. 

"yea yea, I'll keep in mind next time" she faced him while swatting Loman away from her physically. after some small talk and lots of 'r u okays' the three finally left her room. 

She called Kitty as she picked up her laptop to check her unread emails. 

"Hey kitty, all good?" she greeted 

"Yes Roxy all sorted" she heard the reply right before a clanging noise 

"uhh... are u okay?" she asked confused 

"yes yes no worries, just in the middle of something. Ive sent you the email look it out uk the pass" Kitty rushed in one breath while the clanging continued 

"oookayyy... hit me up when ure free" Roxanne hung up not wanting to disturb anymore 

knowing Kitty, she would've just said that she's never too busy for Roxanne. 

Roxanne had basically picked up Kitty from one of the crime rings she had business with. The bubbly girl was a ray of sunshine for the brooding members. She was a very junior member the first time when Roxanne had met the girl, serving her coffee but she instantly caught Roxanne's attention. It was just uncharacteristic. Kitty could shoot 10 men dead with a smile on her face and that's what Roxanne loved about her. Over time they developed a bond with each other and would help the other whenever and wherever they could. Now that Kitty had become the official sniper of the mob it was hard to meet her often but the local coffee shop still knew their orders by heart. 

Roxanne did search and open the folder Kitty had talked about on the call. It had all the information about the gunmen. Obviously they weren't there to kill her because she wasn't supposed to be there. They were there for the spider key. 

According to gossip it had went missing after the auction, there was no way to know who took it so why the hell was she on the hit list? 

And if someone is looking to her for it then that means they have an inkling of who made it. That meant danger. The mole theory was getting firmer in her mind and that is never a good thing. Not many know about this, only the ones closest to her. If they were betraying her, well, god help them.
