Roxanne walked into the dining area like someone preparing to fight God.

Holwen on her left, Zolekh on her right, Abel trailing with a notebook, Rolkan humming softly, and Helixiar practically floating—

Her brothers saw the formation and immediately braced.

Cain lowered his coffee cup.
Loman choked on his toast.

"...No," Cain said instantly. "I reject this reality."

Roxanne ignored him and sat down like a queen taking her throne, except with the faintest blush on her ears.

Helixiar plopped beside her cheerfully.
Zolekh slid into a seat with terrifying domestic ease.
Holwen pulled out Roxanne's chair with a soft "sweetheart."
Abel adjusted her plate like he lived here.
Rolkan reached over and stole Cain's toast.

Cain smacked his hand away, spluttering.
"What are you people— you— YOU DON'T EVEN LIVE HERE."

Rolkan grinned. "We do now."

Loman stabbed a sausage. "You all slept in her bed, didn't you?"

Everyone: dead silence.

Roxanne: stares at the window as if escape is possible.

Loman gasped dramatically. "You DID!"

Zolekh lifted an eyebrow. "And?"

Cain held up a hand. "NO. Don't. Not at the breakfast table. Do not finish that sentence."

Abel, taking notes on his tablet:
"I would just like to mention that Roxanne slept eight hours uninterrupted. This is a historic moment."

Holwen smirked. "She slept very well."

Roxanne elbowed him sharply.
He made a soft "oof," still smiling.

Cain pressed both palms to his face. "I hate this family."

Loman patted his shoulder. "At least she's glowing. She looks like she experienced bonding."

Rolkan smirked. "She did."

Cain threw a napkin at him.

Roxanne groaned.

It was chaos.

Warm chaos.

She might kill them all later, but right now...
it felt like a real breakfast.

Post breakfast Roxanne wanted to examine the body of the dead guy from the night of the baiting but none of the present members seemed to let her go alone. She caved and to prevent taunts to herself for the rest of eternity she decided to bring all of them. Not like any of them had been spared from seeing a dead body before.

The door slid open with a whisper.

Cold blue lighting.
Sterile metal counters.
Glass panels.
A giant suspended hologram screen for internal scans.

The intruder's body lay on the isolation table, sealed behind a transparent shield.

Helixiar shivered. "So this is the safest place on earth?"

Roxanne nodded. "No one can access this room except me, Cain, Loman, Dad, and Grandpa."

Holwen smirked. "And now us."

Roxanne glanced at him.
"...Yes."

Zolekh stepped closer, studying the body. "Looks like he died instantly."

"He triggered a chest microcharge," Roxanne said, voice cool.
"Probably a failsafe implant."

Abel nodded. "The signature matches old Black-era tech."
