That was before I messed up,
Before it all went wrong,
and I had another reason to fill up my cup.
Told you that I'd never fall in love,
Knew it was a lie from the start.
I almost had you but that wasn't enough.
Not enough that you stole my heart.
But I love you, and it frustrates me.
What do I have to do to make you mine?
What can I do to make you see,
That if I had you, we could leave the world behind.
Walk away, hand in hand.
Tell the world to fuck off.
I just want you to understand,
I love you and I'll never stop.
Not even if I try to drink it all away.
I almost had you,
But you don't feel the same.
And we'd never make it through.
You'd never love the real me.
But I could never let you walk away.
I almost had you, it wasn't meant to be.
But I guess that's okay.
Just know you've always had my heart,
Caught me when I'd begun to fall.
Letting go's the hardest part,
Hardest part of it all.
Because I almost had you.
