"Twinkle, twinkle little star... point me towards the nearest bar."
James POV
Dull grey blue eyes peered back at her in the mirror.
Her red hair felt duller today too. Lifeless. Like McCoy took the last of any lively aspect she had left. Her hand moved towards her stomach. To the bruises that lingered.
Or maybe the sawdust pile did.
Her hand moved up towards her throat.
It still left like it lingered in her mouth. Her nose. Her eyes.
Burning. Burning. Burning.
She smoothed a hand over her hair. The curls were curling today, even water wouldn't help tame them. Too bad Gabriel wasn't here to help...manage it.
Gabe.
The guys...
Her heart ached. They had seen her-
She shook her head. Standing straighter. She grabbed the remnants of concealer she had. It was from a sample she took at the mall.
Sephora prices are ridiculously high and samples are way too tiny. They had tried to color-match her when she had gone in but chose a ridiculously yellow color.
Thank god they did free samples.
She carefully dabbed the concealer onto the dark purples under her eyes that were growing more and more prominent by the day.
Different day different task it was so much easier when she could take a razor and-
Breathe.
She needed to breathe.
Everything had just been overwhelming lately. She needed to draw.
To relax.
She dropped the concealer and grabbed the sink taking in a sharp breath.
Mascara.
Her eyes wouldn't look so dull with mascara.
"You've been through worse," She muttered to herself. It was confusing because she had. And yet her body was a mess of anxiety. "Today can't be any worse."
Today would be fine.
Kota had brought her home early in the morning. She shouldn't have even gone to his house yesterday. As nice as the evening had turned out to be with him.
With Erica.
Her hand tugged at the bottom of her hair.
She wished she could have kept it in the braid Erica had done for her but she slept like a raccoon who found a stash of cookies.
So feral.
And now it was big and curly and kept trying to get into her eyes.
She shook her head carefully swiping the mascara and then tossing it back into her backpack. Grabbing some Chapstick and putting that on as well.
Hopefully bringing a little bit of color into her face.
She wondered what the others saw when they looked at her.
What did they think?
They probably didn't see much.
Or at least not anymore because they saw her and-No. Nope. No.
