Episode 37

It had been a couple of days since the ordeal and nothing had really happened. The police had no lead way on where Demi could be. Joe was constantly watching his phone to see if she would answer back but she hadn't. He had been up in his room which used to be Kevin's for most of the time just doing whatever he could to get his mind of what had happened. He didn't get on with anyone in the house besides Denise as it was. He had called his mother every night since what had happened to let her know if there was any news which there wasn't. He had just one picture of his son and daughter on his phone. Just the one. Joe sat up on the bed when he heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." He muttered the door soon opening, he expected Denise to be stood there to see how he was doing but was surprised when he saw Nick there.

"Um hey Joe, I was wondering if you wanted to play some video games or something?" Nick questioned coming as a shock to Joe.

"Um sure but why?" Joe questioned flinging his legs over the side of the bed slipping a shirt of his torso but staying in his short sweats.

"Well mom keeps going on about how you're a good person so I figured I should at least give you a chance." Nick grinned slightly making Joe smile.

"Alright then what games have you got?" Joe questioned as they both left the room heading into Nick's room where he had a expensive consol. Joe knew his parents would have brought him this for doing nothing in return but Joe couldn't help that. He just hoped him and his brothers would realise in the future how much their parents have done for them.

Denise smiled as she entered the room Nick shared with Frankie and now Kevin too seeing that Nick was making an effort to get to know Joe more. Kevin would be going away again for college soon so Nick and Frankie would have a little more room. She watched them for a while, they weren't speaking to each other but their expression showed concentration as they played the game which Joe had never played before but it didn't take long for him to get the hang of it.

"Hello boys would you like a drink and some snacks?" Denise offered Nick being the one who looked up from the game. He had played it before.

"Yeah that would be great thanks mom," Nick smiled at her as Denise smiled back. She couldn't remember the last time she heard Nick use his manners. She exited the room closing the door behind her so they wouldn't be disturbed. "Joe you killed me!"

"Well you should pay attention then!" Joe teased making Nick laugh.

"I'll get you back for this!"

It was later on that night after dinner that Denise had a phone call. Joe was about to get ready for bed after a long day of playing video games with Nick. He had fun getting to know Nick and soon realised that he wasn't as bad as he thought. Frankie was still a little young as it was to realise how much his parents had done for him.

"Joe they have found Demi." Denise rambled as she entered his room to see him about to get into bed but he stopped turning around facing her.

"What? Where is she? Are the babies okay?" Joe questioned himself as Denise ran her fingers through her hair gently.

"She was found without the babies Joe." Denise whispered.

"W-What?" He stammered.

"She's been arrested, classed under kidnapping. She's under investigation now." she felt her eyes burning with tears knowing that her baby girl was in a cell and not at home where she should be. Denise smiled as she felt Joe hug her not hesitating to hug him back rubbing his back. She wanted to be there to protect her daughter but she was in a police cell instead of home where she should be.
