Joe made his way out the changing room after getting changed and putting his bag in his locker. He was the first ready and in the kitchen besides Willa who had taken the lunch shift too so she could gain a bit extra cash for herself. She was planning on moving in with her boyfriend soon and wanted to pay something towards the place.
"Hey Joe, you and Demi work things out?" Willa questioned Joe nodding his head.
"There wasn't much to work out, I guess her hormones were a little over the place." Joe replied tying his apron at the front before folding it over so the lose strips wouldn't dangle into any food products they would be feeding to their customers. It was quite a big and successful restaurant, they aim to cook for around two hundred every night and even more on a Friday and Saturday night. Joe hoped to open his own restaurant one day. As successful as this one.
"Is there something wrong with you two?" Dale inquired as he waited for the rest of his staff to enter so they could have a small meeting at the beginning so everyone was clear with what needed to be done before any customers arrived.
"No everything is fine, it was just something that was said. I got put on timeout yesterday though by Kaia, that was amusing. Then my time got reset because Demi came over to talk and I wasn't allowed any visitors." Joe laughed at the memory along with his best friend as boss but also another one of his friends. He had known Dale since he was teenager and had gotten to know him more as a friend than a boss. Dale wasn't a mean head chef or anything like that.
"Sounds like Kaia, I swear she is the most adorable little girl ever. So sassy." Joe laughed again as the rest of the staff begun to flood in.
"Reminds me of my daughter when she was a little younger." Dale praised greeting his staff the whole kitchen then settling down into a working environment.
Demi had put Cai and Kaia to bed before she settled down with a drink in front of the telly. She often spent her night like this until Joe came home the two of them heading to bed together. She practically lived her now, all her clothes and close belongings were here. It was just easier with wanting to spend time with her boyfriend and children. Demi bit her lip gently as Joe carefully entered the apartment quietly not wanting to wake Cai and Kaia up from their slumber. She had put the ring back where she found it not wanting to ruin the surprise if he was planning to propose to her but she wanted to know at the same time. She had no idea they were heading to that stage of their relationship, she was getting more sure every day that Joe was man she should end up with but she didn't know if she was ready for marriage at the age of twenty one. Joe greeted her as he entered the room after taking his jacket and shoes off.
"What's wrong?" Joe questioned instantly knowing that something was wrong.
"How did you know something was wrong?" Demi questioned back as he made his way over sitting down on the couch next to her.
"Because I know that look on your face." Joe stated, Demi sighed looking up at him. She didn't know what she wanted from him anymore, she thought she wasn't ready to be wed but now she was having second thoughts. She didn't know what to think anymore.
"Joe are you going to propose to me?" Demi inquired Joe's eyes widening slightly.
"Why would you think that?" Joe questioned getting nervous as he scratched the back of his head gently. Demi sighed looking down at the floor.
"I found the ring in the bags you brought from the mall. I'm sorry if it was supposed to be a surprise but Joe I don't know if I'm ready to get married this soon." Demi admitted not wanting to hurt his feelings. She knew he loved him but she was happy where she was at the moment not wanting to commit herself into something like that.
"I'm not proposing Demi." Joe assured her taking both her hands kissing them gently.
