Andromeda's POV
So the rest of Christmas Break was great. I wrote to Charlie often. And I am always wearing the necklace he'd gotten me. I love it. When I went to Hogsmeade. Charlie meet me there and we had what our friends call a date. But we're not an official couple yet. Though he didn't let me pay for anything. I had a lot of fun.
When I wasn't studying for exams. I was helping Hermione, Harry and Ron try to find a way for Harry to breath underwater for an hour. He'd finally figured out the egg. He listened to it underwater and heard a poem.
Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you're searching ponder this;
We've taken what you'll sorely miss,
An hour long you'll have to look,
And to recover what we took,
But past an hour, the prospect's black,
Too late, it's gone, it won't come back.
The black lake part is obvious. But how is Harry supposed to breath underwater for an hour? What is being taken from him? We have no clue. So we've been researching ways to breath underwater, with little to no luck. We found out a lot about what creatures live in the lake and Harry may have to face. But still no way for him to breath underwater.
The night before the second task. Fred and George appeared in the library. They took Hermione and Ron to see McGonagall. They never returned. Harry and I continued to research. I fell asleep in the common room. The twins woke me up. Saying it was nearly time for the second task.
"Where's Harry?" I ask them.
"No idea" they state. Then hand me a plate of toast. I thank them and we headed do to the lake together. Where they took bets from other students on the outcome of the second task. I looked around and couldn't see Hermione or Ron. I pray they are ok.
I go sit with Ginny and Neville. As the twins continued to take beats. "Do you know where Ron and Hermione are?" Ginny asks me.
"Haven't seen them since last night" I tell her. "Fred and George took them to see Professor McGonagall" I add.
"Odd" she says.
"They should be here, they'd never miss a task" Neville states.
"You're right, they wouldn't" I state. I then look around the crowd. "Cho is missing and so is Gabrielle" I tell them.
"Gabrielle?" they ask me confused.
"Fleur's little sister. She was gonna watch todays task. Fleur was so excited to see her" I explain. "Oh my Merlin, it's people" I state.
"What's people?" Neville asks.
"The egg, said something would be taken from each champion. Harry thought it'd be an object, but it's people" I explain. "They have to find them at the bottom of the lake" I add.
"But why would Harry have to save two people?" Neville asks confused.
"He wouldn't, he has to save Ron and Krum will save Hermione" Ginny tells him. "What else did the egg say?" she asks me.
"They have an hour to look before what was taken is gone forever" I state. "But Dumbledore wouldn't let anyone die. So there must be a time limit to this challenge. An hour" I explain. As Harry finally appears and joins the other champions.
"Well, all our champions are ready for the second task, which will start on my whistle. They have precisely an hour to recover what has been taken from them. On the count of three, then. One . . . two . . . three!" Bagman announces. All four champions dive into the lake. I saw Harry swallow something before he dove in.
"I wonder what Harry ate?" Ginny muses.
"Looked like gillyweed" Neville states. We look at him confused. "It's a plant that grows in the Mediterranean Sea, when eaten allows one to breath under water" he explains.
"He did it, he found a way" I say proudly.
"So what do we do for an hour?" Ginny asks us.
"We have exploding snap" the twins state as they join us. "Any takers?" they ask. Ginny and I agree to play.
(Time skip)
An hour had past and the only one to surface was Fleur. She couldn't get pass the grindylows. A couple minutes later, Cedric finally appeared with Cho. Then Viktor with Hermione. Not long after Harry appeared with Ron and Gabrielle. Apparently he'd found the hostages first and refused to leave until he was sure they were all safe. Which earned him second place. He and Cedric are now tied before the third task.
Which the champions would find out what it is a month before hand. So that they can prepare for it before hand. Though before the next task. Hermione, Ron and I have exams with the rest of the school. The champions are lucky they don't have to do them this year. There was a party in the common room that night, and I wrote a letter to Charlie. Telling him about the second task and telling him when the next Hogsmeade visit is. Asking if he'd be free to meet up.
