Chapter 10- Is Oprah in the room?
I felt my heart deflate a little, of course deep down, I knew I’d never be able to have Ashley; not realistically. But the one thought on my mind was…who is that girl?
I won’t lie, I’m excited for today; the day Brad comes back to school, or should I say the day Brad becomes a popular. I agreed to ride with him, it’s not like I ride with anyone else and he’s the one with the license…
As we stepped into school, Brad wasn’t fazed by the stares, not one bit. I’m not joking but I swear I saw a girl drool a little as Brad walked past.
“Hey, tiger! Rawr!” Marley, pretended to claw at Brad’s arm, teasingly. He smiled embarrassed; he politely waved before turning back to me.
“Hiya, lioness” Brad winked back, making Marley go loony, she began to flick her hair like a mad-women, I was scared for whoever was behind her.
“Introductions Lauren?” Marley looked at me, edging me forward.
“Marley, Brad” I gestured between the both, I saw Ashley’s shadow, moving swiftly through the crowd, he still hadn’t spotted me but just seeing his figure sent my heart into a frenzy.
“I’m Brad Harper” He smiled, waiting for Marley’s response; hers was a little slower than Ashley’s.
“Wait, nerdy Brad, periodic table Brad” Marley stared mouth gaping open.
“That is me” Brad said dramatically.
“Your so…” Unable to finish her sentence, Marley continued to stare at Brad.
“Hot?” I piped in, it was very entertaining to watch, if I say so. Marley didn’t reply, just nodded weakly.
“Hey Brad!” Jas walked in, I swear I saw a tint rise in his cheeks, could he? No! Which twin did he like?
“Do you need a tour?” She smiled sweetly, granting herself a wolf-whistle from the cheerleaders.
“I can-” I began to talk.
“Sure!” Brad replied, waving good-bye, and leaving with Jas. I stood alone, only with Marley for company, I quickly rolled my eyes.
“Tell Jas paws off” Marley jabbed me in the chest, with a perfectly manicure nail.
“What?” I laughed, Brad was…Brad, what’s so special about him?
“I’m helping you…so you need to help me…get me Brad” I stared at Marley in disbelief, was she serious?
“He’s not a possession” I defended; Brad isn’t a game that Marley and Jas could use…he’s my best-friend.
“Not yet” Marley smirked, before stooping off; the whole cheerleading squad after her. I sighed in frustration before rushing to math class. At least Steven would be able to make me happy, this is why I love having boys as just friends, makes it a whole lot more comfortable.
“Yo!” I screamed at Steven, making him look up from his desk.
“How’s the lovely cheerleader?” Steven laughed quirking an eyebrow.
“Couldn’t be better…” I sighed.
“What’s up?” Steven asked, turning his head fully towards me.
“Is Oprah in the room?” I acted shocked.
“No, just Jeremy Kyle” Steven mocked, winking.
“Okay, Jeremy…for some reason, of which doesn’t concern you. Marley told me I had to help her ‘get’ Brad” I sighed, doodling onto my book.
