Chapter 24- In aid of St. Valentine
The crowd had begun to patter off, but I stood frozen in time, my heart-beat increasing rapidly.
"Say something?" Ashley whispered, pulling me to his side. I allowed him, opening my mouth to speak but no words came out.
"Can I talk to Steven, privately" I suggested to Ashley, whose anger just grew.
"I'm not going to leave you two alone together" Ashley continued to glare in Steven's direction, why couldn't he just work with me for once?
"Ashley!" I spoke, although we both knew I was warning him to leave. He nodded his agreement, but not before pecking him on the cheek, possessive much?
He only stood by his locker, so he could vaguely hear what we were saying and making sure I was in his sight!
"Steven, please explain to me what the frig is going on" I stared at him, Steven avoided my gaze uncomfortably.
"I like you Lauren, I really like you. When you said you were dating Ashley, it felt like the end of the world for me!" Steven sighed, twiddling his thumbs nervously.
"I like you too Steven, but not in that way! I like you as a friend, you're my friend, a really good friend; one I don't want to lose. But I really like Ashley, in the other way! And I want to give us a shot, I'm not saying we'll work out but I want to give us a try" I gave Steven a sympathetic smile, before I'd been the girl that boys rarely talked to me and if they did it would be for my answers, but in one day I'd had two boys confess their 'love' for me, one thing is for sure, I've changed...a lot!
"But when we kissed, even you must have felt it?" Steven looked at me intently, his eyes pleading with me.
"We kissed? When?" Steven wouldn't be making such a thing up, would he?
"At Ashley's party?" Steven looked at me clueless, as if it was obvious? Wait, I was drunk, Steven had been my 'mystery' kisser?
"You don't remember do you?" Steven sighed deeply, his eyes furrowing in disappointment.
"I don't, I'm sorry" I replied honestly, if I had remembered, that would change so much, now I think of it, all the signs were there so how come I was so oblivious?
"Doesn't matter, you know Ashley's lucky" Steven said, shaking his head slightly.
"You think that now, but you'll tire with me in a week!" I laughed, to break the awkwardness between us, only making it worse.
"I'll never tire of you" Steven said honestly, making me shift uncomfortably.
"Steven!" I warned, feeling extremely awkward, what else would I say?
"Listen, I'd better go, looks like Ash wants to kill me" He nodded his head in Ashley's direction, who was glaring over at us.
"Please don't fall out with Ashley over this!" I grabbed Stevens arm; it was now his turn to be uncomfortable.
"I think Ashley has already made his decision" Steven smiled vaguely, before walking off, cue Ashley in 3...2...
"Lauren, what did he want?" Ashley's hand snaked around my waist, how protective.
"Steven and I are friends" I told him sternly, it was true; we used to be so close.
"Is that all you guys are?" Ashley raised his eyebrow in jealousy, it was quiet amusing.
"Yes! I choose you" I pecked him on the lips, hoping Steven wasn't in range!
"Okay, I wanted to ask you something, all in aid of St. Valentine at all that" Ashley blushed, a true deep red, blush.
"What did you want to ask me?" I physically had to fight off the smirk that was tugging at my lips.
"When Steven told me he liked you, I was terrified, I was certain you'd choose him, he has a clean record, he's a lot nicer and a lot more trustworthy, but when you didn't, believe me...it shocked me and it made me realise I really like you Lauren, will you be my girlfriend?" Ashley muttered, his nerves clearly coming to surface.
"I prefer bad-boys, a clean record is boring" I smirked; he looked at me in bewilderment, enveloping me into a hug, his whole body relaxing.
"I do love you Lauren" Ashley admitted, his cheeks flaming.
"I love you too!" I smiled, connecting my lips with his, as soon as I got home, I'd delete that stupid video, this was what I wanted, the past was the past.

As I walked to my next class, a flustered Jas appeared in front of me, obviously out of breath.
"Finally I found you" She clutched her sides; clearly she had a stitch, due to her heavy breathing.
"You found me!" I said sarcastically, laughing at her state.
"This isn't hide and seek, I desperately need your help" She panted, pulling herself up vertically.
"What is it?" I sighed deeply; somehow I knew she wanted something.
"Have you got his present?" She looked at me, pleadingly. I nodded grabbing my bag and handing her an recording studio voucher.
"Oh Lauren! He's going to love it! Thank-you so much!!" She pulled me into a hug before rushing off to class in high spirits.

After school I stood in my bedroom, racking my brain, I NEED TO FIND HIM SOMETHING, I NEED TO.
I heard Jas enter the room but chose to ignore, she'd go away...eventually, i didn't have time for 'girl talk' or other random rubbish.
"What's wrong?" Jas questioned, eyeing me suspiciously.
"I don't know what to get Ashley he's so unpredictable" I sighed, flopping down onto my bed, groaning into my hands.
"Listen, pass me your laptop, I'll order something, trust me. You brought Brads, I'll buy Ashley's! It's fair!" Jas smiled innocently, I gave her a grateful smile, handing over the laptop, she disappeared immediately, leaving me to shrivel into my hole by myself!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jas had told me she'd ordered Ashley's present so all the pressure was off, I could enjoy Valentine's day with the most gorgeous boy-friend ever, thinking that as he approached me with a grin on his face, Ashley's smile is infectious, when he smiles you just find yourself smiling along.
"Thanks for the valentines gift Lo, I haven't watched it yet but I will!" Ashley pulled me into a quick kiss but had left before reality struck me!
Ashley has the disk, 'the revenge disc' and there was nothing I could do about it...
