Chapter 21-What are we? Animals?
As we walked home, I heard Jas continuously moaning about something that had happened during the day, I wasn’t paying much attention though as I was replaying the kiss over in my head every second.
“I hate her” Jas mumbled, fire burning evidently in her eyes.
“What?” I turned my full attention to her…maybe I should have listened to her explanation.
“Marley!” Jas looked at me bluntly; I nodded pretending I’d been listening.
“What’s she done now?” I mumbled, Marley had been Jas’ hot topic recently, I’m forever hearing her moan about the girl.
“She isn’t allowing me to be top of the pyramid; I’m always top of the pyramid” Jas began to mime with her hands, her hands shaking in anger.
“Maybe she fancied a change?” I said lightly, knowing whatever I said would be wrong in Jas’ eyes.
“I weigh like a stone less than the other cheerleaders. I see them eating hamburgers at lunch” Jas accused, her eyes widening at every word.
“Cheerleaders are the same as people; they’re allowed to eat” I shrugged; honestly, I had no idea what she was ranting about, and I honestly didn’t care either.
“Hamburgers are not cheerleading diets…what are we? Animals?” Jas groaned, tugging at the ends of her hair.
“So who’s top of the pyramid?” I steered away from cheerleading habits; I was a ‘cheerleader’ and I survived on Jenis frozen yogurt.
“Big boned Alisha, I’m telling you, I get crushed and I’m at the bottom” Jas stretched out her arms, miming getting splattered to the floor.
“Well why don’t you try get on with Marley” I said genuinely, this little feud had been going on for too long, it was seriously getting boring. But Jas’ reaction was the exact opposite; she stared at me in shock like I’d just killed her pet.
“Make up with the queen of all evil?” She managed to choke out, Jas was totally over-reacting so how come she couldn’t see it?
“She isn’t that bad” I attempted to uplift the conversation but even I didn’t seem convinced of my answer.
“You’re right, Marley isn’t the person who everyone fears” Sarcasm dripped off my twins tongue, I rolled my eyes.
“Whatever, are you going practise today?” I changed conversation yet again; this time successfully.
“Yeah, come with…I can’t survive by myself” She pouted, her eyes pleading, I stuttered for a while, before I eventually nodding.
“Fine but if I hear Marley sneer at me, even once I’m out of there. Deal?” I smiled, although inside my dignity was shrivelling up.
“Deal” She smiled, but we both knew there was no certainty.

I was late into class but my teacher was babbling about some project so I had managed to seat myself next to Steven unnoticed.
“What’s she talking about?” I whispered, causing a few people to glare at me, encouraging Steven to stifle a laugh, I jabbed him in the ribs to shut him up.
“Oh, a project about stereotypes” Steven arched his eyebrow, I rolled my eyes.
“How boring! Have we got to work together?” I gestured between the both of us, Steven nodded.
