Chapter 19-No-one could ever dislike you....
As I stood on Ashley’s porch, my hands were trembling, my heart thumping. I couldn’t believe he’d asked me to come to his family home. Did that mean he liked me like liked me?
I was about to turn around, when I saw a dark figure approaching the door. I clutched my bag nervously. As the figure got closer, I could clearly make it out as Ashley.
He slowly opened the door as I plastered a smile onto my face. I tried my hardest to relax but I think that my hands were shaking, wasn’t the most relaxed I could be.
“Lo, calm down! It’s only my parents!” Ashley pulled my body into his, making my heart slow down. All the sense of fear dying down.
“It’s just…uh- what if they don’t like me?” I’d said what I’d been thinking all afternoon; I mean people are allowed to have an opinion on me.
“How can they not Lauren. You’re too likeable. No-one could ever dislike you ever. I promise” Ashley can me an award-winning except this one wasn’t a cocky smile, it was genuine, holding feelings.
I gripped his hand tightly, entering the house. The Jackson’s most definitely weren’t poor, their house was spacious and jaw dropping. They had their own swimming pool and even their own sauna. I tried to hide my nerves, but the strange looks Ashley was giving me, they weren’t working.
A middle-aged women stepped out from one room, grinning for ear to ear; she approached us.
“Hello lovely, you must be Lauren. I’m Ashley’s mother, Katrina” She pulled me into a hug. Looking at her, she had the same eyes as Ashley. The dark brown eyes bringing out her recently dyed hair.
“Let me introduce you to the rest of the family” Katrina said before walking off to round people up. Ashley’s grip on my hand tightened. I arched my eyebrow at him, but before he could answer, his mom came back with the rest of his family in tow.
“This is my husband John, my son, Kieran and my little girl Amber” I waved shyly at the family. Amber was the spitting image of her mother.
“I’ve already met little innocent Lauren” Kieran grinned, making me blush.
“Leave it Kieran” Ashley hissed, letting go of my hand; scrunching his fist into a ball.
“Whatever, let’s have dinner” Kieran gestured for everyone to enter the dining room, winking at me.
“So Lauren, what’s your passion?” Katrina smiled politely, handing me my plate.
“I enjoy Art, I like to doodle; nothing serious” I shrugged, Ashley kicked my foot to elaborate but I sat frozen.
“Lauren is awesome at art, her drawings are unreal” Ashley piped in, smiling proudly. Allowing a smile to spread onto my lips, I looked down blushing.
“Could you draw me Lauren?” Amber looked up to me. I nodded replying ‘sure’. Then the conversation went quiet.
“At work today-” Kieran began to speak, smirking at Ashley, I fidgeted uncomfortably. I seriously didn’t want to know about his work; especially not when eating.
“So Amber, mom said you’re going to be in the Christmas production” Ashley quickly diverted the conversation, my hero. I sent a grateful smile to him.
“Yeah, I’m going to be angel Gabriel. I wanted to be Jesus, but school said that I wouldn’t fit in the crib” Amber rolled her eyes dramatically; I almost spilled my water from laughing.
“I don’t even want to be the stupid angel. I’m not even allowed to fly, I just have to wear a tin-foil costume” Amber sulked into her seat, she was cute no doubt.
