I stared in shock at the legendary pirate in front of me. He wore a smirk so arrogant, I knew he thought he was going to kill me with ease. I glanced around quickly for something to use, but sadly there was nothing. If I could just call for help, the fight was going on only feet around the corner, someone was bound to hear me.

I shoved Peter onto Lucy, praying that she wouldn't lose her balance, and made a dash towards the hallway. One of Black Beards crew members was faster though, and tackled me to the ground.

We rolled around, both of us fighting for dominance. I swung my fists at his face and chest, desperately trying to push him off of me. We struggled for a few seconds longer before both of us regained our balance. He circled me, smirking as he knew there was no where for me to go, before suddenly stopping mid step.

His eyes grew wide and he glanced down at his abdomen, lifting a hand and lightly touching the silver object that protruded from it before tumbling to the ground, lifeless. From behind him, Susan lowered the bow and arrow and tossed me a sword, turning away to face the two other pirates that decided to join us.

Out of the corner of my eye I noticed Lucy pulling Peter over to the large rock we had previously hid behind, and once I knew they were both safe, I took a deep breath. I reopened my eyes, ready to face Black Beard when a sharp, cold blade touched my neck. "I admire your- dedication in saving your loved one. It sure is a shame that 'ye failed."

I could feel his hot breath on my neck and it made me shiver in anger and disgust. "I haven't failed yet." I swung my sword as hard as could around, ducking under his and just barley missed his arm. He laughed in surprise and swung back at me.

Our weapons clashed, the familiar sound of metal on metal filled my ears as we pushed against each other. He kicked at my feet, but I quickly jumped in the air, landing with a thud on his right. He re cooperated quickly though, slicing into my arm.

I cried out as his blade slid across my skin, the hot, sticky substance that was blood pouring out and cascading down my arm to my hand. The injury threw me off just enough for Black Beard to knock me on my back.

He was on top of me in two seconds flat, tossing his weapon to the side along with mine and wrapping his hands around my throat. I gasped and choked, clawing at his hands as I struggled for air. I kicked as hard as I could, feeling the life slip from me as my vision grew blurry, and then it was gone. The hands, the lack of breath, the blurriness, everything.

I sat up quickly, startled as the large animal crouched on Black Beards chest, the sound of his cries dying down after a moment. I looked around, seeing Susan standing over the dead pirates and Lucy emerging from behind the rock.

She took a few timid steps towards me before noticing what I was staring wide eyed at and freezing on the spot. "A-Aslan?" She whispered.

Hearing the name being said, the creature lifted its beautiful, shining mane and nodded once, chuckling deeply as Lucy threw herself at him. "I knew you'd come. I just knew it!"

I rose to my feet slowly, staggering a bit from lack of oxygen and pressed my palm to the cut on my arm, wincing as I did so. "Peter." I breathed as I hurried over to him, but was stopped by Susan.

"Let Aslan heal him first." I stared at her and then at the great lion, stepping backwards.

"Shall we move him somewhere safer first?" Aslan walked towards the High King and peered down at him solemnly. He waited for us to nod. "I know just the place."
