"Are you sure I look alright?" I mumbled, sliding my hands down the front of my red, lace gown.
Lucy nodded rapidly and joined me in front of the mirror, wrapping her arm around my waist. "How do I look?"
I smiled and flipped her hair off of her shoulder. "Darling!"
She made a face at me and dropped her shoulders. "Hot?" She laughed at my next try and made a 'thumbs up' gesture.
"Lucy, can I ask you something?" I wondered aloud as she walked back towards her bed. She hummed in response. "I hate to ruin the night, but have to say I'm a bit worried about Aslan. I mean, he was suppose to be here a few days ago and we haven't heard a word."
She nodded. "I know what you mean. I'm a wreck about it as well. Susan keeps telling me that he knows what he is doing, but I can't help but worry."
"Exactly. I keep thinking that the Pirates found out about this ball and to keep us safe he gave himself up."
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
I shrugged. "Well, to protect Edmund he gave himself to the White Witch. Who's to say he didn't find out about the Pirates plan to attack while everyone is at the ball. We'd be in the most vulnerable position. It makes since."
"But how would they know about this if their on the sea?" Lucy leaned back on her elbows.
"Peter says word travels faster than you'd think on the sea."
She nodded and then broke out into a grin, giggling into her palm. "You and Peter are literally the same person. Your just a little more patient."
I laughed with her, but jumped and nearly squealed as Susan's voice rang out loudly. "Lucy! What are you doing? It took me ages to get your hair right!"
Lucy jumped up and latched on to her sisters arm. "Susan! Maggie believes me about Aslan. We were just talking about it!"
Susan shrugged her off and pushed her towards the door. "Stop it Lu. I told you that's not funny. Now, come on. It's time for us to make our entrance."
Lucy frowned and allowed herself to be pushed out of the room. Susan stopped abruptly and turned to face me. "I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't indulge in Lucy's paranoia."
"Paranoia!" I gasped, following her closely. "She's not being paranoid! This could be serious Susan. Will you just stop?"
She spun around, smacking my hand off of her. "What did I do to upset you so bad?"
She stared at me for a moment. "Caspian."
Before I could respond, Caspian joined us. "Hello all. You girls look lovely!"
Susan instantly smiled and wrapped her arm around his. "Shall we?"
He nodded and winked at me as he walked by. I rolled my eyes and smiled as I saw Peter waiting by the door. I hurried over to him and accepted his arm.
He leaned towards me and whispered in my ear. "I take it Susan is still giving you a hard time?"
I nodded and leaned into him slightly. He tightened his arm around waist and whispered again. "Well apart from that, you look breath taking."
I giggled and brushed a loose curl out of my eyes. "You don't look so bad yourself."
The doors opened suddenly and a million gasps rang out. My eyes widened at the amount of people and creatures in the room and i tightened my grip on Peter as we began our descent down the stairs to the floor.
"Oh my- thats a lot of people and they all happen to be staring at you." I stammered, diverting my eyes to the steps.
"Believe me, they're not staring at me." I blushed and laughed lightly, smiling at a young centaur as we walked by her.
Once we reached the floor, Peter waved his hand to one of the servants and light music filled the room. I sighed as everyone turned from us and began conversing amongst themselves again. "That wasn't so bad was it?"
I smacked his arm lightly. "How dare you not tell me that we were literally making a grand entrance!"
He smiled and pulled me closer. "You think that was bad? Wait until we have to go say hello to all those people."
