"You don't really think the only reason Caspian came here is to get the staff, right? I-i mean he wouldn't let Peter die. Would he?" Lucy whispered in my ear as we stalked behind Caspian who was walking with great strife.
"I dont know Lu." I whispered back, walking a bit faster. "How do you know they didn't move their camp to a different spot since the last time they were here?"
Caspian glanced back at me, not bothering to turn all the way around or to stop walking. "I don't."
"So- how you know were going the right way?"
"I'm pretty sure the cave didn't up and leave on us." He fired back, sarcasm lacing every word.
"Wait- were not going to the camp?" I reached out and jerked him around.
He grimaced at my facial expression and fixed his sleeve as though scared i had damaged it. "Were you not just present for our little argument a while ago? I told you clear as day i was going after that staff. The full moon is tomorrow night. Thats when they'll take Peter to the cave and try to get the staff. We need to be as close to the cave as physically possible so we can be there before they are. We'll grab Peter while they're setting up and I'll think of some brilliant plan to save us all, as usual."
Lucy looked at me uneasily and skipped ahead, leaving me and Caspian to trail behind. "Why are you being so arrogant?" I asked as he looked down at me with distain.
"Why are you being so up tight?"
"Are you ser- okay. Well, aside from the fact that my boyfriend is about to be bled out, all of narnia could potentially be controlled by a power hungry pirate or worse, you, and Lucy and I just completely ditched Susan and Edmund, i also happen to be here with you, whom i just found out is in some competition for my heart. Does that about sum it up for you, or would you like me to list a few more things?"
He stopped dead in his tracks and turned to me with a deadly look on his face, one that could be recognized even in the dark. "Listen princess, have you just considered stepping down off the pedestal for two seconds? I'm not in some competition for your heart. I helped Peter get your bloody engagement ring made, and during all of that talk i found myself to be a bit jealous. I've dismissed that thought though, you can relax."
I stood there, mouth agape as he stormed down the beach in the same direction as Lucy. Coming to my sense a few moments later, i dashed after him. "My engagement ring? Peters going to propose to me?"
He stopped once more and turned to me, a tired expression on his face. "Not if we don't get to the cave in time."
