"Can I come in now?" Lucy's agitated voice called from outside the door.
Peter and I laughed as I stood up off his lap and called back to her. "Yes."
The door open slowly and she pranced in, hoping up on her throne. "Susan wouldn't tell me anything! It's not fair. I'm a queen too!"
"Yes, but there are some things you shouldn't be worried with." Peter smiled down at her and patted her arm.
"Well- I-" She sighed and crossed her arms over her chest. "When can I know?"
"When you can know." Peter replied, taking my hand and walking towards the balcony. "Do you see them?" He whispered in my ear as he pointed out at the old looking ship in the distance.
I leaned into him and nodded. "That's the Pirates? They don't look that intimidating."
I felt him shrug and kiss the side of my head. "Looks can be deceiving."
I hummed in response and laughed. "I didn't see them last night."
He smiled against my hair. "I don't think they arrived until this morning."
"Good thing." I shook my head. "We almost fell asleep watching the stars. Imagine what would've happened if we had and they'd found us."
"I would've protected you." He mumbled.
"I know that. It just would've been bad." I spun around in his arms and kissed the corner of his mouth before calling to the littlest queen. "Care to go for a ride?"
She grinned and rose to her feet excitedly. "Can we?" She bounced up and down, waiting for Peters answer.
"Fine, but be careful!" I know she never even heard those last few words as she was already out of the room.
I laughed and rolled my eyes. "Yes sir."
He stepped a bit closer until we nearly touching. "That's High King, to you."
"Mhm. Well be back later." He nodded and kissed me chastely."I'll watch her."
Waving once more, I skipped out of the room towards the stables.******
The sun was particularly bright today and the trees were all billowing softly. I wondered if it was because Aslan was due to arrive. The wind blew my hair around my face as I continuously brushed it back.
I reached the stables in a matter of minutes and giggled as I noticed Lucy attempting to saddle her horse. "Why is this so difficult for me?"
"Because your too short." I replied, taking the saddle from her and stepping up on the wooden block. "There. Don't feel bad though, I'm a bit short myself."
She smiled and took my place, swinging her leg over the cream colored horse. I snatched the block up and placed it in front of the hazel horse. Once I was mounted, we took of on a slow trot through the trees.
Lucy sighed and let her head roll back, allowing the sun to shine on her face. I did the same for a second before straightening up at the sound of her voice. "Do you love my brother?"
"I- what?"
She giggled. "Do you?"
"That's quite the question Lu." I smirked at her glowing face.
"Yes, but a simple one at that. Do you love him or not?"
I nodded at her statement. "I've always thought you were beyond your years. I do love him. Very much."
She smiled. "He loves you too. He's told us all a million times and that was before you started courting." She paused to giggle along with me. "Your not suppose to kiss you know. Not until you're married. Susan doesn't know that you too do that."
I frowned. "She doesn't?"
She shook her head harshly. "Oh no! If she knew she'd have a fit. Peter told Edmund and I to keep quiet about it as to not upset her."
I opened my mouth, but quickly shut it at a lose of words. "Um- I didn't know that."
She pulled the reigns on her horse and stopped, looking at my face intently. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to- I wasn't-"
"No! That's perfectly fine Lucy. I'm actually- that's nice to know." I took a deep breath.
"Are you made at Peter now?"
"I- no. I'm not. I realize why he didn't want her to know. I just don't like-" I trailed off.
"You don't like what?" She asked as we began to walk the horses again.
"I just feel like sometimes he tries to keep me a secret- us a secret."
Her mouth fell open. "He would never! He adores you and most certainly wants everyone to know!"
I sighed. "Sometimes it just feels like it though."
"Hello!" A cheerful voice called out as the sound of a horses hoofs slapping against the ground approached and eventually slowed.
Lucy and I turned simultaneously and smiled. "I'd know that accent anywhere." I laughed. "Your early."
