Chapter 28

OOTC above/on the side

Maddie's POV

I wake up in a familiar pair of tattooed arms. They were wrapped tightly around my waist with the owner's head resting in the crook of my neck. Soft snores were released from Calum's parted lips. I was able to turn my body just enough to see one of my best friends' sleeping complexion. His squishy face was relaxed and his mouth was slighly ajar. I quietly cooed at the sight.

I carefully slipped out of Calum's arms as he turned slighly and loosened his grip on my body. I grabbed my phone immediately after I was freed from Cal and snapped a picture of the sleeping puppy. A devious smirk slowly creeped its way onto my face. I backed away from the bed and then, as swift as a puma, I pounced on my prey.

"TIME TO GET UP CAMUUUUUUM." I sang obnoxiously into his ear.

Calum groaned,"Ugh. 10 more minutes Maddie."

"C'mon Cal. Today is the day of answers for our friends' mysterious side lives. Now get your ass out of bed. Move it! Move it!" I say like a drill sergeant.

Calum then flips me the bird after grogily (AN: is that even a word? Idk) getting out of bed. He then leaves the room and enters the bathroom. Whilst I waited for him, I did my hair and make-up then popped a mint in my mouth. I put on my shoes then waited impatiently for Calum on his bed.

A few minutes later the stray Calum emerged from the bathroom wearing a pair of basketball shorts, a grey crewneck sweatshirt, and his black Roshies. I stood up and flattened my outfit. Calum then proceeded down the stairs we me shortly behind him. We told his mom that we'd be heading out and using her car.

"Alright, but be careful!" Mrs. Hood exclaimed.

"We will mum. Don't worry. Love you!"

As we began walking out the door Cal's mom responded,"Love you both lots!"

When I entered the car I felt a jitters in my stomach. To know the Hoods looks and treats me as their own is such a great feeling of acceptance.

As Calum started the car I looked at him and said, "You're family is so sweet."

"Yeah, OUR family is, aren't they? You're a part of this family too now. You and Ness. Now you're my little sister. No buts."

"Fine with me big bro."

Calum's phone then buzzed notifying him of a new text. I didn't bother asking who it was because I drowned myself into the music playing through my headphones, slowly letting my mind drift.

I began to sink back into reality as i felt the car slow down. When I look at my surroundings I see my house in front of me. This was our first stop? Seriously?

"Cal, why are we at my house. I think i would know if something was up in my own house."

"This is just a checkpoint. A very important one." He said mischievously.
