"Alright. I got this."
"If anything happens to her-"
"She'll be fine! Didn't you say she was built to survive?"
"Ok ok, hold onto me."
Sideswipe offers me his servos, standing in front of me as I clumsily look down at my own pedes, or rather, my own wheels. I somehow managed to transform them into these sort of skates, similar to Sides'.
They all spent the morning trying to get me to understand how transforming works. It's trickier than it seems. At least to me. It took me a while to even begin to understand it. And it took them even longer to find a way to explain it. After all, it comes natural to them, it's as if they asked me to explain how to breathe.
However I finally seem to be able to grasp the concept of transformation. At least what I concluded is that it's a combination of intuition, your own body recognition, and intent. Of course that sounds nothing like a graspable concept, but it was enough for me to turn my pedes into wheels.
Most of the 'Bots are around, watching me try to skate. Jolt, Optimus and Jazz are inside, catching up on something. Probably related to what they found when I left or what's going on at NEST. I haven't really brought myself to ask about that yet.
I grab Sideswipe's servos and slowly pull myself up to stand. Bumblebee is on my side, watching me closely in case I miserably fall. It's a strange thing, feeling so fragile while currently being everything but. Sure, my spark isn't in its best condition, but I'm certain if I fall nothing will happen. I'm made of metal now. And I've seen the Autobots fall and be shot at with only scratches being done to them. So I'm sure whatever happens, it'll be fine.
Still, I can't help but feel nervous since everyone's watching me. It's like learning how to ride a bike. Or, no, it's more like learning how to walk all over again.
"Just like walking. But better." Sideswipe smiles, almost as if he was reading my exact thoughts.
"I was never much of a roller skater." I admit, offering a nervous smile in return.
"You're in for a blast, trust me, Corey."
"Does he know that's not her-?" Evac begins.
"He knows." Dino interrupts.
"Alright now, optics up." Sides motions with his helm, making me turn my gaze up to him. "You want to look where you're going."
I nod, and I know if my hands could sweat, they would be by now. It was no lie that I was never a roller skates person. Tried them only a few times and none ended up with me unscathed.
"Now, unlike these roller skates you humans use," Sides continues, "these won't move unless you make them spin yourself. But before-!"
One of my feet roll forward, almost kicking Sideswipe. I yelp, losing my balance, just as if I was a cartoon slipping on a banana peel. I brace myself for impact, closing my optics, clenching my jaw, but before I'm able to go down, someone catches me from behind, arms below mine, like a trust exercise.
A small whir tells me exactly who it is.
I look up at Bee.
"~You got this." He says, optics shining. If anyone can make me believe it, it's him. I smile, for a moment wishing it was just the two of us. Not because I don't want the others around, but because he has a way of making things simpler. It feels like I can actually do anything when he looks at me like that.
He helps me back up, only then do I notice a couple more bots having moved from their place, now returning to where they were a step back. They were probably about to come see I if was alright had I fallen.
I'm not the only one who still sees myself as fragile, it seems.
