50: Won't Back Down

"Caelyn...?"

I turn around, hearing someone calling my name. My gaze meets with Parrish.

"Oh... Hi... Are you going away too?" I ask, looking down.

"Of course not! You can be sure, kid, I will never quit" he says, giving me a reassuring smile.
A small smile appears on my face as I look back up... and find everyone staring at me.
My gaze falls to the floor once again as I feel my face get hot. I really made a scene here...

"And that's some nerve you've got, kid" Parrish continues. "To shout at Derek like that... He's not the one who takes 'lectures' easily" he shakes his head as he chuckles. But I get to hear a hint of sadness in his voice.

"You two were close weren't you?"

"Heh, yeah..." He looks down but then changes his expression completely, he looks at me and smiles. "C'mon Dallas, you should clean yourself up" he places a hand on my shoulder and starts guiding me through the Base. Pretending nothing just happened.

Something I really appreciate.

"So, what beat you up like this?" He asks.

"Oh, you know, a psychopath alien robot" I mutter.

"Should I dare to ask?" He rises an eyebrow.

"Not right now..." I look down.

"Alright. Here," he stops in front of two doors. "You can wash your face, then go to the nursery to have your wounds checked, will ya'?" He smiles.

"Sure. Thanks" I nod and smile back.

"You're welcome, Dallas"

I stare at my reflection in the mirror. Man, don't I look terrible?

My nose is badly bruised, fortunately, not too swollen. My lip is split and it is a bit swollen, I don't even remember how that happened, probably bit myself when I crashed with the metal door.
The cut on my cheek is large, not too deep, but it hurts every time I smile, grimace, and even talk.
Oddly, there are dark circles around my eyes, guess I've been sleeping but not resting much.
Good news, my hand is fine, it just hurts a bit, but it didn't bleed so that's great.
Such great news...

I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
Parrish brought me to some big bath and changing rooms, most likely for the women working at NEST they're completely silent and nobody is here; I would say it's a bit creepy, but after what I went through, this isn't creepy at all.

I run a hand through my hair and slowly walk out of the place.
My mind's blank as I automatically walk towards the main hangar.
When I get there, I find all the bots gathered around Optimus and Will.

I get closer, but no one seems to notice me yet.

"Hi guys"

They all instantly turn to look at me.

"Kid!" Hide steps forward.

"Optimus told us what happened, are you alright?" Jazz kneels in front of me

"I'm okay, Jazz, thank you" I smile.

"Look at you! Who did this?! I will go to him and kick his..-" Hide starts but gets interrupted by Optimus.

"I was just about to finish telling you what happened." He says. "I managed to reach her in the tunnel and killed the Decepticon"

"You sure you're okay, Cynthia?"

"Yes, Sides, I'm okay" I chuckle as Dino facepalms behind him.
We stay some seconds in silence.

"So... What will you do now?" Will asks, looking at me.

"Umm.... I'm not sure... Is there anything I can help you with?" I ask.

"Well... Not actually. Everything's just the same with the 'Cons, their energon signals are there but they're nowhere to be seen. There are some teams already working on it... Other than that, there are no other news" he shrugs.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah I'm su..-" he stops and rises a finger. "Wait! There is one thing you could help me with" he nods.

"What is it?" I ask, giving a step forward.

"You could help me deal with Haddelin"

"Alright! There's nothing I can help you with! Let's go now!" I playfully turn around, pretending I'm leaving.
Will laughs and shakes his head.

"Why asking? Is there something you want to do?" He asks.

"Actually... Yes" I reply. "I think... I think I can find a way to bring Bumblebee back..." I look down and then back up at Will, whose eyes are wide.

"Wow wait, really?" He looks up at the Autobots, like asking for someone to tell him I'm telling the truth.

"Wow wait, really?!" Hide repeats what Will just said, staring at me with widened optics too.

"Yes." I smile. "Really"
I just hope it's true.

I can't say I'm not scared.
Like hell I am.

Hide and me are parked right outside the building...
The building where I used to live.
Second floor. Apartment 26.
The place I used to call home.

The file in my dad's computer said there are second parts for the volume A and B... The one of the A... Is here. In the apartment... If it's still the same as it was two years ago...

"Are you sure about this, kid?" Hide asks as I sit on the driver's seat.

Ironhide, Sideswipe, Ratchet and me are here in Chicago while the rest of the Bots help finding the Decepticons. Optimus wanted to come with me, but Hide ended up convincing him that he was enough protection and that he wouldn't let anything happen to me.
That big softie...

"Yeah..." I take a deep breath. "I'm sure"

"Don't you want me to go in with you in my holoform or something?" He asks... Again.

"I told you, Hide. I'll be okay" I pat the door.

"Alright" he sighs.

"Alright..." I repeat. "Well... Here I go" I place my hands on the door and completely freeze for a moment..
I can do this.

And I will.

I open the door and step outside. My hands are shaking and I'm a bit dizzy... But I'll be fine... I'll be fine...

I mentally prepare myself. Not only because I'm going to find out if I can save Bee, but also because I'm about to enter the place where everything happened... Where everything crumbled down...

But I won't back down.

I've got this far.

If I survived, it was for a reason.

I need to keep going.
I will get in there and face my fears.

This is where I lost everyone I cared about.

Now it's the place where I'll find how to save who I love.
