POV: Tobias

It's Tris' birthday today and I'm going to make it perfect for her.

She's still asleep when I grab my jacket. I Ho down a small message and leave her a note incase she wakes up before I get back.

I grab us breakfast and a muffin at a Dauntless café.

As I stroll through the compound, I window shop.

As I am strolling down the corridor, my eyes follow the beautiful diamond encrusted  necklace. I know Tris wasn't big on fancy things, but for her birthday it's necessary.

I buy it for her, and I know she's going to love it.

To top it off, I purchase a bouquet of roses, her favorite flower.

I was about to leave, thinking that it might be enough, when I see a very elegant black dress. It's tight on the top with a low sweetheart neckline, and then bandages down from the waist to the knees.

All of a sudden a ring comes to my mind. Making my way to the jewelry store, I survey the jewelry displayed on the counter. When I find a black ring banded with silver, I'm positive it's perfect. I request an engraving of '6 + 4

I stick a pink black candle in the blueberry muffin and light it up.

I swing the door open, careful not to wake her abruptly.

"Happy Birthday Tris!" I whisper.

Her eyes flutter open and she smiles.

"You did this for me?" she asks kissing my cheek and beaming.

"Anything for you, Tris," I remind her.

She blows out her candle. I hand her a tiny black box with a ribbon on it.

She carefully unwraps it and her eyes light up.

"Tobias!" She exclaims "It's so beautiful!"

I lift the diamond necklace out of the box and place it around her neck, latching the clip.

While Tris got ready I head over to Christina's. I knock and within seconds Christina flings the door open.

"Hey I was wondering if you could help me plan Tris' surprise birthday?" I ask.

"Oh Four," she pats me on the shoulder "I was already way ahead of you."

She opens the door fully and reveals a pile of decorations.

***

Christina and I had Shauna take Tris out on a 'happy birthday shopping trip' while we set up the party. She has no idea.

I hang streamers all along the living room walls.

Tris and I decided a few months ago to paint our apartment, but we haven't gotten to it yet. She said we needed to re-decorate too, and I agreed.

I grab a ladder to hang up the happy birthday sign.

"A little to the left," Christina observes pointing her finger in different directions "Wait a big move to the right... now put it more in the middle... to the left a little again... perfect!"

I roll my eyes and step down the ladder.

Marlene walks in with the cake we ordered. The words Happy Birthday Tris! We're pasted along the cake with white and black frosting.

Nothing gets better than Dauntless Cake.

"We're all set up!" Christina squeals "I can't wait!"

After everybody's arrived, we get in our places.

I text Shauna that were ready. In a couple minutes, the door cracks open.

"Hey, Tobias are you here?" Tris asks looking around as Shauna follows after her.

Uriah flips the light switch up and we all yell "SUPRISE!"

Tris gasps and screams- an excited scream.

"Oh my goodness. You guys are so awesome. Thank you," she exclaims.

I smile, glad she appreciates it.

Small arms rap around my waist.

"You didn't have to you know," Tris admits.

"I did, now stop saying that. You deserve this just as much as anyone does," I insist, planting a kiss on her hair.

She smiles and rests her head on my shoulder.

After we all all eat cake and open presents, I wrap my fingers round Tris'.

"Let's go out on a nice walk," I tell her suppressing my wide smile.

"Okay," she nods.

I already told Christina about this so she knows we are leaving and she said she would keep everyone busy.

POV: Tris

Tobias and I walk out of our apartment hand in hand.

I wonder where he's taking me.

The sky was filled with beautiful colors as the sun set. A peach orange, and a silky cotton candy pink.

We turn the corner and there set up on the beach was a pathway filled red and white rose petals leading up to a romantic candle light dinner under a gold canopy.

I can't believe my eyes, and I'm almost positive that this is a dream. It's unreal. How in the world did I find such a caring guy.

I swivel around to find Tobias on one knee.

"Beatrice Prior, I knew you were special since the moment I laid eyes on you. You are amazing, brave, and beautiful. I love your smile, your laugh, I love everything about you.  Over and over we choose each other. I don't know what's to come, but I do know I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Tris, I love you so much. Will you marry me?"

By the time he finishes, I'm already in tears. I couldn't help it. His words filled my body, spreading warmth throughout me.

"Yes!" I stutter, smiling so hard my cheeks hurt "I love you so much."

He wraps his arms around my waist lifting me off my feet, as I sneak my arms around his neck.

He strokes my hair as I press my lips to his.

We break apart and he slips the ring on my finger. Two bands, on black, one silver, intertwine into a beautiful ring. It was absolutely perfect.

My hands were shaking uncontrollably. I was so happy, so thrilled. Within months, I will have the label of Beatrice Eaton.
