Chapter 13

Waking up to people  whispering  and a beeping sound you flatter your eyes open but close them again cause there are bright lights around you and your head is pounding , your thoughts trail off to Justin and you see the image of him in the car motionless and full of blood , “Justin?” you mutter , you try to get up but your body isn’t working with your head , it’s then that you realize that you’re in a bed.

Opening your eyes again carefully  you blink to get used to the light , once your eyes are used to the brightness you see you’re in a hospital bed , you try to raise your head again but all kind of wires are holding  you back and you feel like your body is moving in slow motion, “sweetheart  you have to keep still” a familiar voice talking to you , turning your head you see your mom sitting next to your bed together with your dad, you see your mom has been crying and your dad has a more angry look on his face.

“mom,dad what  are you doing here?” you ask confused , your mom takes your hand and tears are filling her eyes “the police came and told you were in an accident” your mom says with teary eyes , your thoughts go back to Justin when you hear about  your mom talk about the accident and that image of him in the car comes back making you panic , you’re afraid to ask but you need to know if he’s still alive, “Justin,where is Justin mom , there was so much blood and his heart stopped beating ,omg mom please tell me he made it ?” you cry out , taking your hand your mom tries to comfort you “calm down sweetheart, you need to rest” she says in a soothing voice but you can’t calm down you need to know, you pull your hand away from your mom and try to get up again ignoring the dizziness “don’t tell me to calm down mom , I need to know if he’s okay! “ you growl seeing your mom has a frightened look on her face cause you never talked to her like that before, all this time your dad hasn’t even said a word to you, he hasn’t even looked at you, hearing you snap against your mom he gets up and tells your mom he’s gonna get something to drink , he leaves the room and still acts like you’re not there, looking at your mom confused and upset you ask her what’s wrong “is daddy mad at me?” you’re voice now calmer and for a second you forget about Justin , “ darling you have to understand , you just ran off with a boy you hardly know and you ran away from the police” she says sighing giving you a stern look, “but mom I really love Justin , this is not just a crush” you defend yourself, she puts her hand on your cheek stroking it with her thumb “I know darling , just give him some time okay?” she says lovingly , “okay” you say nodding your head and letting out a deep breath.

“you still haven’t answered my question” thinking about Justin again “ please mom I really need to know, is Justin okay?” you say worried and scared not really wanting to know the answer, your mom looks down into her lap thinking about what she should tell you and the panic is growing inside you , “mom please!” she looks back at you taking your hand again “ he made it but he’s really badly hurt” she says careful and you know by the tone of her voice she’s not telling you everything , “how badly hurt ?” you whisper saying the words warily , your mom gets up and sits next to you on the bed taking you in her arms , “mom please !” your voice getting higher and louder wondering what she’s leaving behind, keeping you at arm’s length she starts talking “ they still don’t know if he’s gonna make it , he has some  swelling and bleeding in his brain and he hasn’t regained consciousness since they brought him in 2 days ago” her voice staying calm and comforting all the time but it doesn’t help, a big wave of panic and fear overcomes you, fear of losing Justin , losing the one person you truly love.

After you had some time to process everything your mom told you confusing takes over the fear “wait 2 days ago?” you ask puzzled “have I been here 2 days too?” you ask looking at your mom for some answers “ nodding her head she says “yes but you have been asleep the whole time, you were completely in shock and freaking out after you saw Justin in the car that they had to give you something to calm down” your mom tells you answering your questions.
